classic evil slr

I wish the cost of the rapidwinder was not soooo expensive for them. Motors are fun but manual winders ROCK.

Truly Evil Minolta SR-M with 85mm F1.7 MC Rokkor

Truly Evil Minolta SR-M with 85mm F1.7 MC Rokkor

After having owned and used motorized Nikon Fs for a good while, I sold it all off and returned to Minolta SR cameras, which I used early in my photography years. My current favorite shooter is the SR-M, the motorized version of the SRT.

Looking for my 50mm F1.2 MC Rokkor (lightsucker), but my teenage son has been using it :eek::eek: so here is my 85mm F1.7 MC Rokkor, another oldie but goodie.

The most evil of Classic SLRs: Nikon F with an original, fully functional F36 motor and battery pack. One of the sweetest cameras I've ever had the pleasure of using! It's amazing how well the motor works, and how diligently it chugs through frames without a hitch. I can see why Nikon was so successful in the 60s. It almost makes you feel like you could handle any assignment with this old motor!

Without a hitch? Bloody hell, you've got a good one. I've had F36s with the 'dagger' pack and the Remopak, and every now and then, they'd just bang off the whole film for no reason. That was in the early 70s when they were still current! Maybe the ones that have survived are the ones that worked.

Even so, I still own five Nikon Fs, probably the greatest classic SLR that ever existed. All have standard prisms; two are black. No motors, though.

Cheers,

R.

I like Nikon F cameras, and seeing the stuff posted here I'm certainly more impressed.

But can anyone tell me why this camera sold for so much:

I mean wow!!

There are Nikon F's for shooting and Nikon F's for collecting. This is one for collecting, and one of the most desirable Nikon collectibles too!

And as Cale mentioned, the seller is a member here and 100% trustworthy. You can be sure you're getting exactly what the description says.

I can't understand what in my post suggested I might think poorly of the seller, or for that matter, the buyer. Put yer guns away fellas, my question was fairly put and has been answered.

Thank you.

You asked why the F sold for so much. Part of the reason is that the seller is 100% trustworthy and well known in the collecting community. That's all I meant. ;)

Frank's FT3 w/ 50/2 is in my hands right now, me being the transhipper. He'll get it when I'm damn well done with it. :p

Same goal here.. just a shout-out for a top-shelf fella. No aggravation intended whatsoever.

One of my SLRs is an old black beater F with a DE-1 meterless eyelevel prism and f36 drive with attached battery pack. I use it on the street (mostly with a Nikkor 180 2.8 lens attached) as one of a trio of SLRs when I'm so inclined and with two S3s and an SP when I'm in a rangefinder frame of mind.
The f has become my favorite SLR, even more so than the F2, or my space-aged FA.

Wow, carrying three Nikons at once; that's some heavyweight gear!

Damn straight Skippy!
If I've got the 80~200 2.8 ED AIS on the motorized F2AS, that's about nine pounds hanging off my left shoulder. Not to mention the motorized F with the 18~28 around my neck and the motorized FA with the 35~105 2.8 hanging off my right shoulder.
It's no wonder the physiotherapy for my bad back isn't helping.

Old friend of mine had to cut back the amount of gear big time because of his back. Now he as 6'7" and bulky, used to carry F4/5s and lots of glass.

Dump the motors dude while you can still walk!
