Doesn't this Fed 2 look like a Fed 3?

According to Princelle it is a Fed shutter in a Fed-3b body. It is the only Fed-2 with lever wind.

Is the knob more reliable/smoother/better than the lever wind mechanism? HAven't bought an FSU yet, but I am narrowing them down. Kind of liked the idea of the lever, but I'll skip it if it sucks.

I have several lever wind FSUs. The Z6 had the worst wind lever, but it only took a couple of minutes to fix it. The fed 3 I have has no problems with the lever wind. Sometimes, they can be kind of 'ratchety' but it is easy to fix. There should be a couple of threads floating around somewhere about how to fix them.

For me, part of the appeal of FSU cameras is their retro feel/look. Knob winders are generally preferred, but then, I don't regard them as a primary tool, rather as a fun diversion from trying too hard.
OTOH, my fav FSU cam could well be my Zorki 5(a) which has lever wind.

I never really got my Zorki 6 to work with a smooth and light shutter release and my 5a & 5b are quite similar . These have a dog-leg bend in the actuator rod which can make for a less positive release. I've got used to it now by pressing the button with the middle part of my finger, a sort of lever effect.

Lever wind or knob? I don't thinks it matters much. My 2 main users in my FSU collection are FED 2 and Zorki 6. The lever of course being a bit faster, but then again who would bring an FSU rangefinder to a sport match? (Well maybe to snap a few of the audience :) ).

The lack of strap lugs on some models are a real pain though, avoid, avoid

Happy shooting!
