Hi,
After much(!) research, I've almost settled on a Reflecta ProScan 7200 to scan my archive of negs and slides before they disintegrate. Yes, I know it will take forever, but I can't afford a better / faster scanner and there don't appear to be any scanning services operating in the UK with both the economy and quality of ScanCafe.
Anyway... I've seen a few posts on here from people with the ProScan 7200. Have any of you tried it with VueScan and found it to work? It's not listed in the latest release notes for VueScan, and I am wondering whether that's just because the scanner is too new, or whether it doesn't actually work. I plan to try the supplied software first, but if that's not good enough, I'd like to be able to fall back on VueScan.
Cheery,
Jason.

Simply download the free Vuescan demo and try. That is why it is there.

If I had the scanner already then I would. I'm asking in an attempt to avoid buying a scanner that is not supported by VueScan.

I tried the demo version and it would crash with the ProScan. I got into contact with the person who develops VueScan last week and he confirmed to me that the ProScan is not supported yet, but he is working to make it happen.

Ah. Thank you very much. That's not really the answer I wanted, but I'd rather know it before I buy a scanner. I'll keep an eye on the VueScan website until the Proscan 7200 is supported, or until a better supported scanner becomes available.

Good news:
I just got in touch with the author of VueScan, who told me that he will be working on ProScan 7200 support within the next couple of weeks!
Cheers,

Yes, it does!
I've downloaded the free Windows version last night and did some testing running it in VirtualBox under Ubuntu Linux 9.10.
So far, I just got into testing with some b/w negs, which scanned nicely. I tried various settings and did not encounter any problems so far, I will be continuing with slides tonight.
As a first statement regarding the software itself, I'm pretty impressed not only by the huge amount of features VueScan offers, but also by their clear structuring and ease of use.
Cheers,
