Hi Godfrey, which feeder is it on your Nikon? If it is the SA-21 there is a simple hack to turn it into the equivalent of an SA-30 full film feeder. I think it’s just a jumper to change. My SA-21 was already modified when I got it and it makes the job a little easier. I do a lot of test reels so I just throw them in and walk away.

P.s. edit to add disclaimer. I have the 5000 so I don’t know if that mod would work for you. Any Coolscan people here?

Yes, my automated feeder is the SA-21. And yes, I know that it's not possible to make it do long rolls with the LS50 ... I researched that extensively 15-20 years ago. It's quite okay with me ... As mentioned above, I've moved to a camera-copy scanning methodology which I find faster, more efficient, and proving to have better image quality.
