I just recently ( finally ) got a Rolleiflex ( 3.5E ). It did come with the original strap ( in excellent shape ), but after using it a bit, I'd like to get a more comfortable strap. Can any Rollei users recommend a comfortable and utilitarian strap that won't make it feel like there's a brick hanging from my neck after an hour or two?

Luxecase makes rolleiflex strap though it's a bit pricey.
Op/tech works great but it won't work with the original leather case (at least not for me).
There is also strap adapters which you can use any type of straps you would like. Again, not cheap and I personally can't justify it.

If you're not too worried about style - the Op/Tech strap of your choice, with pro loop connectors threaded through the strap holder?

Put the strap on one side of your neck and let the camera hang down the opposite side, strap crossing your body, front and back. Works wonders.
I use a Domke Gripper with swivels, 1 1/2 inch wide ...

Definitely not concerned about style - just comfort and ergonomics. I also won't be using it with the case. Cost/benefit ratio is the motivating monetary factor.

I use a Gordy strap on my Rolleiflex. Works a treat.

For some time I walked around with a Rolleiflex 2.8F and a prism finder. This combo is a neck killer.
I ended up buying the Crumpler "The Industry Disgrace." Not too expensive. Very comfortable and supportive.

Luigi (Leicatime) makes a very nice luxury strap you can check out on his site. I had to get a replacement strap for the original but badly worn strap on my 2.8 E2 recently and had a good look at his, but in the end decided it was too expensive.
We have a very good leather worker in our town. I took the old strap, including the "crocodile" clips to him and he made me a new strap with a wider band, just shaping it down at the ends so it fit the clips properly. It's secure, heavy duty and will soften soon with a bit more use but already is more comfortable on the neck or shoulder than the original thinner strap. Not bad for $39 AUD!

Luigi also does (at least) two types of straps for Rolleiflex TLRs: one requires the crocodile clips, the other does not.
EDIT: Leigh got there before me

I too have a Domke gripper, 1.5" wide, just ran the strap ends through the crocodile clip receiver on the camera- works fine. These guys are just heavy.

Another vote for the Domke Gripper.
I have them on all my Rolleiflexes.

Thanks for the assistance, gentlemen ( and ladies ). I'll be checking into the Domke stuff, as I've already got one of their straps on my rangefinder. I'll give the other suggestions a look into, as well.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
