I thought Joe was going to be locking this thread about 2 pages ago :D

Can we go out and take peektures now? :D

Cheers,
Dave

ditto on what he said. though I am tempted to put my wife in an Al Kaplan t-shirt tomorrow and post the results on the site just to stir up trouble.

Dave, pictures are what started all this trouble! ;)

heh.. good point.

Let me rephrase my last post:
"Can we stay home, draw the blinds, turn off the TV, burn the newspaper, turn off the radio and sit in the dark in case we get offended by something?"

;)

Cheers
Dave

sorry, but this argument drives me nuts. people that propagate it don't understand the nature of online communities and social media and/or user-generated content.

'Nuff said.

It always amuses me when people moan their rights to express themselves - in a forum owned by somebody else, for which they pay zilch - are being infringed. Tough.

Well, I do understand the nature of this site. And not all user-generated content is worth the bandwidth.

Saw the original thread and pics, thought the "fascination with the tee shirts" was a thinly veiled reason to shoot some attractive ladies in their underwear - nothing necessarily wrong with that, I guess... depending on what side of the gender-equality fence you sit. I mean what's the issue with adding another sexualized image (or ten) of women to the pile when the world is completely full of them to begin with? It's like adding a bit of **** to the lake until someone eventually says "Hey, this water tastes like ****..." you really can't be surprised at the outcome here. Some people are okay with this sort of thing and others aren't.

I don't mean to call the OP's pictures "****" but they weren't exactly ground breaking either, I mean the shirts could just as easily be draped on trees, or given to strangers in the street, dogs could have worn them, which would be cute and hilarious - but then you might have a battle with PETA on your hands.

I think it's kind of silly to take the whole thread down based on a couple of sexist comments on work that references sexist conventions in "art". Discussion on something works better when EVERYONE can see what the subject is.

Guys, something is telling me, that soon you may have the possibility to start a thread named "What happened to my thread named "What happened to my "girls in camera shirts tread" ...it's gone/deleted/vanished" it is gone/deleted/vanished "

just give it a break. Life's good ...

Brownie points, for the two best quotes on this (pointless but enjoyable) thread.

HAHAHAHA :D

"HA-HA"s added to increase length of post.

well that's a subjective call.

and btw...i wasn't meaning to single you out (as you weren't even the first one to post that). you were just closer to the end of the thread and easier to quote ;)

I think there is no point of arguing about this. simple reason is that there is a cultural clash between USA and rest of world. In USA they have more strict rules about offensive language than us and there is nothing we can do about that. We cant expect moderators to change their perception of the world because of us... Also forum is stationed in USA so i think we will have to obey those rules no matter how funny they seem to us... For example someone said retarded in thread - in USA they would use PC term - Differently abled which for us in Europe sound very strange and unnatural. we would use something like mentally retarded and almost nobody would feel offended...

Um, sorry but your either being facetious or wrong.

This thread was started by a US member. Not deleted.

The problem here is the non-uniform criteria used to delete posts and threads.

And NZEEMAN is simply trying to make sense of a situation that does not really make sense. And he is certainly correct in his assessment. What does not make sense is why some threads are deleted and closed, and others remain open even after evolving into full flame-wars.
