I bring mine out for special events like wakes and birthday parties.
The show I put together is usually very popular.
You could, of course, do the same with a laptop but the frame looks better.
I bought it originally intending to use it for screening during shoots but I found it slows down the shoot so i just show a few pix in the LCD and show more after I edit the pix.

On my desk at work.
Partly as a distraction when the day job gets me down, and partly so that I can view photos that I haven't quite decided upon yet. seeing them a fair few times over a couple of days helps me decide whether or not I like them.

so, out of all of the rff membership, it would seem that only 4 OF US have digital frames.
i am suspiciously skeptical, i am...

i have one, joe. i can't stand the thing when it's left on to run, so it's somewhere buried in a closet. if i want to see images on a screen i have my 'puter. otherwise i prefer a print for the few i think deserve it.

thanks mike!
i doubt that i would keep it running with just me around but i think it might be fun for when company is around.
my walls are completely used up with framed prints, hung gallery style but the backlit digital frame has a bit of pizazz to it.
(i can't believe i just said pizzaz...)

I’m contemplating buying an iPad (when they come out) to use as a photo frame. It would do double duty as an e-book reader etc...

I have one - a Philips. I enjoy it. It does not replace albums or prints, but I have it on top of the TV, running random pics of the kids and vacations. It gives me something to look at during commercials.

i believe that you have an image viewing addiction and need to seek professional help immediately...
Well- digital frame might be next. I just replaced the TV, the tube was going bad...

I have both a digital frame and a digital keychain... both got used for about a week and then the novelty wore off. Granted my frame is one of the really cheap ones (and first gen)... but the resolution isn't really good enough to view from a couple feet away, like on my desk... it was ok if it was up on top of the TV stand or something. I've considered picking up a better one as it was the image quality that really killed it for me.

Hey. I resemble that remark!
I wonder if an older Laptop would be useful as a Digital Frame. Someone could make an App for it, I'm sure.

You certainly can turn an old laptop into a digital frame. Windows has a slideshow setting going back to at least XP, if not beyond.

Got one for a present. It is extremely nice and I let it run continuously.

I got two Kodak 8" frames for my parents for Christmas. I got them for their simplicity - you can plug in a USB drive and go with no fiddling around. They're out of state so I just mail them new pre-loaded thumb drives. They pop the old one out, pop the new one in and it starts right up. No fuss, no muss and no long distance tech support issues.

I have a large one in my home office... (hanging on wall in background...)
I also have the screensaver on my computer set up as a slideshow of my photos.
I also use two AppleTVs to turn 2 big-screen TVs (in Bedroom and Playroom) into large digital picture frames that show my photos.
Funny thing is, when other family members have visited the thing that makes them want an AppleTV themselves is the photo screen savers. It's such a nice way to enjoy your photos on a regular basis. They don't just sit on a computer unviewed or in a photo album on a bookshelf collecting dust.
(THOUGH, let me say, EVERYONE should print out photos and make albums or photobooks! I could rant about that - but it's a whole different topic. I do love modern technology, but it shouldn't do away with the old completely!)

DRabbit...... Is that really a shot of your home????? It looks like something out of a magazine. Well done woman!
AND.... your digital frame is bigger than mine! I noticed digital frames about a year ago and did some research. "Kaiser Bass - the only way to go" so I was told. I could not justify a new one so I got the next best thing on the "bay" place. It is lovely..... for 23 shots and then it freezes.
Hmmmm....... Live and learn.
Cheers
