Canon LTM Lenshood for the 19mm Canon?

Awhile back I saw on Ebay a 19mm F3.5 FL Canon, exactly like mine, for sale. What was interesting was that this guy had taken a Minolta rectangular lenshood (the D57KC) and neatly trimmed down the front, and it looked really cool on the Canon 19mm. I emailed him and he said it worked AOK, so I've been looking for one for awhile. I tend to use a hood to keep my fingers from getting in front of the lens, since it's so wide on my M's. And it certainly can't hurt as a shade, and will block the raindrops (I often shoot in the rain).

Meanwhile I found this 24/28mm Konica which looks to me to identical to the Minolta D57KC. This is a 55mm Clamp-on wide hood. I'll need to use my Dremel cutting tool to remove the front part of the hood, I'll remove as much material as I can. Then finish with a hand file, and flat-black paint it. This is not my first hood-cutting project, so I have some experience with doing this.
Will post some photos when it's all done.

well, you write it's an FL lens -- I think, there have been at least 2 versions:

I think, IF yours is built like the Minolta W.Rokkor-QH or the W.Rokkor-PI (both having a deeply recessed front lens element), one doesn't need a hood.

BUT, if it's a retrofocus design having a huge front lens, a hood is never wrong...
 
The Canon 19mm doesn't really need a hood and Canon never made one for it. There is a total of 3 version, the rangefinder coupled LTM version with 55mm filter thread. The first FL version with 58mm filter thread and the humongous retrofocus (R) FL version with 77mm filter thread.

As such, if you are thinking of add a clamp on hood on the FL version, you will need to first need to add a thicker 58mm filter so that the hood can get a grip on the lens. Otherwise, there isn't enough space and you'll have trouble accessing the aperture ring, which is very close to the rim of the lens.

I have the non-retro focus without RF coupling. It is optically identical to the RF coupled version, but it costs less.

M4-2 with Rapidwinder and Canon 19mm F3.5, with Canon 58mm Slimline Y1 filter. This should give the hood something to clamp-onto, and still reach the aperture ring. Good point, Benny 🙂 Will have to wait and see how it all works out. I want a hood for this lens. Should end up similar to the one for the 21mm Leitz Super Angulon. This is one of my favorite lenses to use, I love it. It is like Raid's, the FL version, with Canon B Adapter and Leitz M Mount.

The Konica 24/28 Hood arrived today, so I started right in on it. Removed the inner metal sleeve, as it was too thick to go around a Canon 58mm Slimline filter. Still too thick after removing the sleeve, so I got out my extra Canon Slimline UV and ground the outer "ribbing" out until it fit smoothly into the lenshood mount. I then stopped the lens to F22, opened the shutter, and took a good look at the corners of the frame. Sure enough, I will have to remove the front part of the lenshood, as I suspected. It's too long for 19mm.

It's now halfway through the cutting process, and the hood is 1/2 completed at this point. I will finish it tomorrow, and do the final finishing as well. Just checked the lenshood coverage again at F22, and it WORKS great! No vignetting at all, so my gambling has paid off for me. Slight bit of intrusion into the lower frame of the optical finder, due to the lenshood. I think I can get used to that.

I have lenshoods on all my other lenses (filters too) so I really wanted one for this one. Here it is, halfway completed:

Finished the lenshood Saturday, and shot some test film. Unfortunately the hood does vignette the corners of the frame slightly, so I am now put-off on the idea of a hood for the 19mm. My Canon filter is still very usuable, so really I'm out $20 and some time. Live and learn, the hood will go into my parts box. It really seemed that it was going to work OK.

This is quite confusing.
Concerning the second evilB offer:
The matching lenses for the Minolta lens shade D57KC are the early 35/2.8 and 35/4, cf.

-- but this Gentleman in Nuremberg wants the buyer to put on a 21mm lens an UN-modified lens shade which is dedicated for 35mm-lenses?

But you took now a lens shade, which is less narrow, and cut the front away -- and still it doesn't work?

TBH, I doubt that the first guy told you the truth ;-)
 
Not one to give up -too- easily, I poked around Midwest Photo today, and I found this 58mm clamp-on Pentax Takumar 20mm F4.5 hood. I put a regular 58mm UV together with it, it looks like it -might- work. And no metalwork necessary.

They charged me $5 for the hood. Looks like it will clean up OK. Took some test shots on XX and M2 with the lens at F3.5 and F4 in lower outdoor light. Of course at F16 and F22 vignetting will be more pronounced:
