Apparantly so.. My guess (not hindered by any knowledge ;) ) is that it's a compact with zoom lens, judging from the images:

Nasser: March 2010, shooting downtown Amman, I get a text from Laith, “Leica , want to talk” without that even registering I sent him a reply ,“ What?” He goes on to tell me how he we were contacted by Leica through twitter and that Leica wants to talk to us for some reason. It's not a digital M but a new P&S. Looks either a new V-Lux or C-Lux, i.e., a rebranded Pany camera [1].

There's sort of a thread about this already here.

There is a spec guide in DPReview. Someone pointed out that based on spec, Leica will not re-badge this product because it will be a direct competition with their new X1.

Quite good but I am satisfied with DLUX4 and if Leica does come out with DLUX5, it will be an outrageous price. I got DLUX4 because it was available then. LX3s were all sold out. If LX3 were ubiquitous enough, i would have opted for the cheaper price.

I got some info on the new camera name – it will be called Leica V-Lux 20 (and not C-Lux 20 as previously reported – the EXIF data was correct). Some dealers can already place orders for the upcoming Leica V-Lux 20. The reason they decided to go with a V instead of a C model is probably because of the long zoom – 12x (the camera will be based on the Panasonic ZS7, so expect exactly the same specs).
 
Oh, rumors? I love rumors. During the rumors stage a new camera can be anything.

Let's see. Um, um. Wait, I know. Yeah, wait. I heard that, um, the new Leica camera also makes toast. Yeah, that's it. When you're out taking pictures in the cold, when the silly competitor cameras lock up, you can still take pictures and you can also slip a small piece of bread into the side, press a button, and a few seconds later, out pops warm melba toast. Yeah, and um, it does it without batteries. It's, it's a mechanical. Yeah, that's what I heard.
