Hi,

Could somebody tell me what should be a fair price for a clean Canon 50 f1.4 LTM lens? That guide that once exists - dcolucci, I think - isn't there anymore?

Thanks.

Regards,
João

Clean ones fetch premium...don't ask me why, it's a crazy world. I have seen not so mint ones sold for over $400.

Think I paid USD 265 for one with a recent CLA, a year ago or so. They now and then pop up here for reasonable prices. Good alternative is the Nokton.

My first post here, but I have been looking for a year or so!

I paid £275 for my Canon LTM 50mm F/1.4 last November, from 'Aperture' in London. It has a couple of 'cleaning marks' on the front element, other wise it is in very good condition. Some times I think that I may have paid a little too much but I have enjoyed using it on my M2.

I paid exactly the same zx9. mine has some oil residue on the aperture blades, but is otherwise clean. Results have been very pleasing with impressive sharpness at 1.4. It's certainly good enough for me not to bother searching for a Summilux any more (well, not unless the prices drop through the floor)

The low end is probably $161, which is what I got mine for on eBay 2 years ago. It was a throw-away bid that I never expected to win. Price trend on Canon RF lenses has definitely been "up" since then.

I picked up one from jiri_e on eBay last month for around $270 US. It wasnt in mint mint condition, but it was pretty good. I am quite satisfied with the photos it produces. I've been seeing prices hovering around that recently.

I bought one about a year ago from KEH. It was EX+ rated, almost mint. I think I got it for $350 but I guess I was lucky. I sold it later and bought 50/1.8 and 50/1.2 instead. I've noticed many better LTM lenses have increased in value recently. I guess the Micro 4/3 folks are snapping them up.

HI,

Have been keeping tabs on Canon RF lenses prices since 1st Jan to give me some idea what is happening to them in value. To date the average 50mm f/1.4 lens is $327US$ with highest at $465 and the lowest $179. Anyone who has purchased my book will realise that there are two versions but optically there the same. 50mm f/1.2 seems to have gone through the roof for some reason. Peter

The 50/ 1.4 is as good as I ever need a 50 to be. I, for one, can't justify spending more on a Leica or other much more expensive lens.

I add my vote for Jiri Ecer--he's tops in my book. He's 110% informed, honest and reliable.

Hi Peter,

Is there any other difference between Type 1 and Type 2?

The T1 high is $465 and low is $179 for an average of $327 for the six lenses that sold on eBay to date. The T2 high is $355 and low $218 for an average of $299 for the seven lenses sold. Most guys are users and the difference is superfluous to there need. Dan's site is more relevent as he covers a lot more of the sales outlets. I started this to fill in 1/4 hour of my day and to follow trends. Canon Lenses have taken of but the bodies have stagnated or dropped in value. Peter

If I remembver correctly, I sold mine for < $200 here at RFF some month ago. It wasn`t in "mint" condition but still very good. Prices here in Japan were at around $170 when I bought it last year.
