I was out shooting yesterday primarily using A mode, which I rarely use. I noticed some shutter lag! With my Leica's I'm used to the shutter firing as soon as I depress the button. However, I was pretty surprised when I didn't get the same response... Has anyone noticed that?

The only time this has happened to me is when the batteries were dying.

Normally the 1 and 2000 flash when the batteries are low... I'll try replacing them and see if that fixes it. I notice that my ZI goes through batteries like they're going out of style too...

This is no more than speculation. Is it possible to half press the release button so as to take the meter reading and so eliminate that possible delay. I have been struggling without success to get just-right timing with digital SLRs. There is a perceptible delay even when focus and exposure are locked in advance.

In general, my rangefinders suffer from a focusing lag. I haven't noticed a shutter lag with the Zeiss.

not actually
I had a demo for a month or so while mine was in for repair, and noticed that it would occasionally take a while (almost a half a second) to trip the shutter after depressing the release if the camera had just been turned on. This only happened a few times, but it was a little disconcerting. Could have easily been battery related though.
