Now I see why there have been more 35 lux asph v.1 in the classifieds lately.
Is the floating element to correct for focus shift on digital bodies?

Who knows for sure. But I would guess this lens has less focus shift than it's predecessor. The floating element might help with that; it also probably improves performance at near focusing distances. The latter thought is based on what is said in the document, and on what has been said about the 50 ASPH.

What is with that polarizer, listed at 450,- EUR?
Is that just a polarizer, sold by Leica? Crazy price!
What has been the initial price of the 35 Lux ASPH v1 ?

This is one lens I have really been waiting for. I bought the 24 Lux and now need the 35 lux to complete my low light outfit. The only thing hat put me off the last version is susceptibility to flare and my likely purchase of a M9/10 in time and then the focus shift issue.
I dont have anything fast enough to keep up with the 24 lux in the 35mm FL and I have been surprised at how flexible I have found 24mm, but with a f1.4 35mm to add to it, I could work with those two FLs only for 95+% of my work. Really excited about this lens. I just hope I dont have to wait 6 months for one as my current project wont last that long!

Hey guys, do you really believe this April story or Ukrainian joke?
Alone the picture is a rough photoshop work.
Put an Elmar 24 hood on the Summilux 35 Asph and you got this "new" Lux.
Have a closer look on the serial number.

If the lens was field tested, then Leica probably did not put a serial number that allows to identify it.Have a closer look on the serial number.![]()
The aperture ring is different than my 35mm Lux Asph.
Also, it shows a 7 meters focus distance while mine has 5 and 10 meters.
So if it is a photoshop (which I doubt), it is a clever one

This will probably cost 2/3rds the price of the M9. I want one. But I am so broke I can barely scrounge up a meal.

I hope, it is not and can be ordered soon, as I am waiting out the decision on this one too.
The issue is, that a good second hand copy of the now available v1 goes for more than 1.000,- less the rumored list price of the new one.
From shooting products, I know, how difficult it can be, to get the same angle and orientation of two items in different shots.
If you take the image from the pdf and put both lenses on transparent layers above each other, it seems, the new one is a hacked version of the old image. The beauty ring with serial, lens mount, focus and aperture rings etc are all looking identical with some changes of relative position (making lens barrel slightly longer, …).
It could be photo shopped, I hope, it is not and we get this soon in the shops.

Oh, I'm sure it's real and here's why: I took the plunge and bought a Summilux a few months ago. Of COURSE there's an update now. I guess my condolence is that the new model will probably be crazy expensive.

What has been the initial price of the 35 Lux ASPH v1 ?
I paid a brand new one in 2006 for about $2600.
Unless I can see the real improvement over v1, I don't hold my breath.

If you use an M8/M9/any future Leica digital you'll see an improvement. Otherwise not.Unless I can see the real improvement over v1, I don't hold my breath.

There is something odd about the photo of this lens. With the hood off, you should be able to see the threads on the end of the barrel, but they are not visible in the picture. The end of the barrel appears smooth.

Some of these lenses (like the Summarits) have a ring that goes on over the hood threads to protect them when you aren't using the hood.
No clue if this lens is real or not. It's a hokey looking site, but you never can tell.

Thanks , Tim. I thought of that ,but I have a 24/3.8 Elmar that I bought recently and
I don't remember that it came with a ring. I 'll have to dig out the box....
