Does anyone know about the availability of Rapidgrip?
The website says it's back ordered but no mention of any time line.

Any idea?
David

Tom is a big friend of RFF and a great contributor. I moved your question to his discussion forum here, and suggest you give him a call, or send an email. You can PM him here too, user name TomA. I am sure he will answer your question as soon as he sees it.

Last year, I bought probably one of the last black Rapidgrips from the Leicashop.

T.A. is so generious and helpful, I had no problem paying an extra premium to support one of our sponsors.

I also kinda did not want to miss the boat. Used Rapidgrips on EBAY are very rare.

Really helps with my 75 Lux. Now I need a Rapidwinder.

I have one M6ttl with a rapidwinder and rapidgrip and it's an awesome combination. The only problem, and it's a small one, is if you have a 135 2.8, you can't mount the lens with the grip on. Other than that, it's great.

Hi,

Could you elaborate a bit of what you think has caused the 135mm to not mount with the grip on?

Thank you,
David

David, the "goggles" on the 135 interfers with the grip part. You would have to remove the grip to put a goggled lens on or take it off.
As for availability, yesterday I went out to see our CNC guy. I needed to stock up on housings for M6 Rapidwinders and various other bits. We went through the "Tom A" shelf and found 1/2 dozen grips that had been misplaced at some time. These are the version II with a single finger cut-out as opposed to the version III which has 3 finger indents.
E-mail Tuulikki @ "Rapidwinder.com" and she will let you know when they will be available and what the price is.

I would second that and when ever by from Tom. I did that myself with my first RapidWinder, got my second off Evil Bay when I saw it pop up. Not a surprise, the one I got on Evil Bay was sick. Without question Tom took her back and made her better than new. Rapidwinders and grips did not come to action too often.

T&T are great people, the likes of which are getting rarer and rarer these days. Not sure I really paid anything extra from buying from Tom directly, I think it was the same price I saw anywhere online. Even if it was 10% I'd pay it just to help keep Tom in film and Mr. B in shrimp.

Tom, have you discontinued the Rapidgrips? Sounds a bit like it in your post...

It is not discontinued, it is just that it is a bit of a slow seller and to run another batch, anodize and supply caps and screw is a rather large capital outlay. I rather wait for sufficient orders to back up and then run a batch,
The "single" finger cut-out was a bonus. They were stuck in a box with something else when we found them.

OK I didn't realize you worked like that. I'll send in an order for another one then!

As an aside, you might want to mention this on your web page Tom. Then you might get more orders and I might get my Rapidgrip quicker... :)

Rapidgrip for M9 ?

Rapidgrip for M9 ?

Hi Tom,
I have the V-3 Rapidgrip on my MP and absolutely love it. I've asked Tony R. to put me on the "waiting list for a used M9" ;). Since this might take a while... do you have any plans for a Rapidgrip for the M9? Since the tripod socket is in middle instead of the classic M-position, the regular Rapidgrip won't fit the digital M body. Potential number of camera bodies is significantly lower than all existing film M's of course, so it might not be such a hot cake to sell :(.
