Adox Film?

Adox CMS 20 with its Adotech developer is a wonderful combination. Bob is right that the coatings need to be handled with care, especially given the extreme curly propensity of the film 😉 I have developed CMS 20 with rodinal, but I strongly prefer the midtones with the Adotech developer.

What sold me on Adox in the first place was tha work of NB23 when he was here ... Nick Bojic! He posted some shots in the gallery taken with Adox that blew my socks off

Some of the shots above are VERY nice! I'll keep looking for some Adox here to try out. I get the message that all of these old-style emulsions are a bit fragile - Efke, Foma, Adox and (unlike the newer films) could do with a hardening fixer but the tonal range seems most interesting and definitely worth a try. I think the CMS20 might be a bit slow for my purposes - I'll look for the CHS 50 or 100.

Also, the newer ones of Adox CHS use gelatin on both sides of the crystal clear PET substrate- on the back layer it is coated to avoid micro-scratches from the camera back (gelatin will also quill with water and after drying ist plain surface again), so that scanners will have it easier.

I came across this thread while looking for some examples of photographs taken with Adox CMS 20. I loved the comment from Nando who said, "I like CMS 20 but using the recommended Adotech developer makes it a bit expensive."

This appears to have come from a person who posted shots taken with a
24f2.8 Elmarit-M, 35f2.8 Summaron-M, 35f2 Summicron-M ASPH and a 90f2.8 Elmarit-M (latest version).

I'd have thought the answer was simple enough. Use cheaper gear!

Here are some shots from a Adox CMS 20 roll developed in ADOLUX APH 09 1:100 for about 18 minutes @ 20° Celsius..
Fired through Fed nkvd + its original lens and light yellow filter.
I shot that roll as 10 ASA since I was having the idea to try it in Rodinal kind of developer..
The scanner I was using is plustek 7400 and it could hardly scan the shadows from any microfilm, although the negative have a lots of detail in highlights and shadows..
