Dear all;
I have done some more figure studies with my medium format rangefinder.
They are at this link:

The user is Guest, note the capital G, and the password is matrix.
C&C is welcome ....
Any one who can explain the weirdness with the positive images of the backing paper is will win a few karma points.
Out of many rolls of this film, these are the only ones that did this, and there was some weirdness that caused only these two rolls not to spool right on the takeup spool.

I like the light leakiness of those few at the end.

My M5s need red dots!
The last one is striking... I find it a fortunate accident. Thanks for allowing us to view your work!

The best camera is one that still works!
I like the last couple a lot.
This model has a spectacular face and the shots where her looks are featured are the ones that matter to me. As far as nudes go I find her body a little androgynous and some form of clothing however minimal may have added something possibly!

I agree about her face. But androgynous? I don't see that. An ideal model, I would say.
The image of the paper backing is really puzzling! My guess is that whatever caused the light leak might have caused the print-through of the backing. A strong light behind the paper, causing it to print through?
Edit: Is it possible that a partially open back--maybe just open a little bit on one side--could explain both the one-sided fogging, and the print-through?

Beautiful shots. In a few of them, the paper leak made them almost surreal.

I agree that clothing would have added to the images. She does have great looks.

That Fuji's got a signature all it's own.
I agree with Keith, though. There needs to be a point of focus to feminize the scene.

Dear Forum folks;
Thanks for all the kind comments. Thanks for the critical ones too, those are really important to me.
Here is what happened. This is Kodak BW 400 CN in 120 format. The film is past date, but just so, 12/2009 I think. I store it in a refrigerator in my garage. Due to some weirdness with the automatic lawn sprinkler, a few things got unplugged for about 3 days, one of them was this refrigerator. I noticed this when I went to get film out for the shoot, which I usually do a day before, just to let things warm up just in case ..... Some how in getting the fridge back on, the film got left in. In doing my pre shoot check, the film went straight from the fridge to my bag, and was used about 3 hours later.
The film loaded in the Fuji as normal. Shot as normal, and seemd to spool through to the end normally.
Upon opening the camera, the film seemed to be just at the edges of the top and bottom flanges of the spool. That is much looser than normal. (Clearly, this is how the light got in ) I then tightened the film, which is the only time, before or since, that this was necessary. I took it down the the same lab that I normally use.
If shoot about 25-30 rolls through the Zi, and never had an issue. I have shot about 6 rolls since, ( 3 of the BW400 ) and they all spolled fine.
Any ideas or comments still welcome.

The GA645ZI is vulnerable to poor film tensioning and you must be careful not to leave any slack when inserting a new film. The same goes for all Fujis, and indeed most 120 cameras with a straight film path - among mine, only the Mamiya Press magazines and sinar Vario are immune against similar issues.

First off, very nice work indeed. Now for the comments...
The lighting is a bit rough or overexposed on the right side of the picture. A soft light box might help in this case (unless of course you were looking for this high contrast effect). Also a pose book might give you a bit of suggestions other than frontal poses (again unless you wanted it this way). Thirdly, and this is a matter of taste, grain. I like it depending on the subject matter but with flesh tones less. I always like to look at how skin tone is rendered in B&W as I haven't mastered it myself.

The conditions of my parole don't allow me to look at "nekkid lady pictures", but I had a great time looking at your other GA645 pics, like Amsterdam and such.
Nice camera... quite capable.

Nice Work. It seems that you have the lighting down pretty well. My only c/c would be what Gary said - perhaps try a few more poses.
As far as her looks go - does any one else think she looks like Milla Jovovich

Let me play devil's advocate and say that I have never been wild about these series. I think the photos are nicely composed and technically impressive, but you tend to have the models all pose in the same kinds of positions. The whole fake-modesty-fingertips-covering-the-nipples thing, or the arms folded over the breasts with the hands on the shoulders...I feel as though the content of the photos is just not interesting enough. The one exception is the series with the pregnant woman, that was you, right Dave? In those, the pregnancy seemed to have created a different kind of awareness of the body on the model's part. In the other series though, there's a kind of coy put-on sexiness to the poses that leaves me cold.
Not to compare you unfavorably to other members, because, like I said, I do admire your skill. But I'm more interested in Frank Petronio's nudes, which are all about the weird personalities of the models. That is, they don't come off as "models." Just sexy, freaky people. So if you're looking for advice, I'd say, try something new...shoot the model, I dunno, eating spaghetti or playing solitaire or doing pushups or something. Something unserious and spontaneous.

Dave - are you in Houston? I browsed around your galleries and liked your shots of Rice.

Indeed I am in Houston.
The reason the poses tend to cluster is that I don't shoot the whole session on film, and usually shoot a whole role of film in one go.
While there are other ways to do it, for reasons of expediency, someone else finds the models, and thus rapport is something that is built in a few moments. The shoots are in a workshop setting, and often times, I don't have as much control as I would like.
As a married man, my posing style and wardrobe decisions are limited by my wife's taste.
Please feel free look at the body of my work and you will see while there is repetition, there is also variety. Some of the models pose implied better than others .....
