Monitors!
Monitors!
Hi, for you to know, a pair of Yank monitors were sold to the peruvian navy after the end of the secession war, due to their low profile they travelled very slowly. The journey to Peru lasted almost for a year from the atlantic coast of usa to the port of Callao in that country.
Then in the Pacific War between Chile and Peru, those two monitors now called Manco Capac and Atahualpa succeded in keeping our battleships from gunnig the city of Arica, they had very large guns but couldn´t move to make war in the open sea.
At last that city-port was taken through land attack but never through sea, those monitors were sunken by their crews and now rest in the shallow waters of Arica´s bay.
Bye!
