The fison and Leitz filters may sound expensive, but keep in mind that they retain their value 😉
Further...fiddling with bottles, paint, plastic tape, and all your time involved: these together will easily cost more than a simple fison....

@ newspaperguy: Yesterday I had missed your post: very interesting the idea of the brass tube ... I will have to go hardware with the lens and the clamp-on to try a tube of suitable width. The black cardboard can be an alternative, but I think they will not last long.
 
I got this, quite inexpensive. It has a removable orange glass filter and an engraving "B.D.B. 36 mm) on its side. It is a clip-on adapter, holds very well
I use it more as a filter holder than as a sun-hood

The hoods linked by Rob (rbiemer) and Joao are interesting, but I have two questions/doubts: 1) as Rick (newspaper guy) says, the hood should be straight, otherwise it intrude in the viewfinder; 2) the filter is difficult to use on Industar-22 because it blocks the aperture ring. I will take note of this in my project...

Hello Again,

Just checked ebay. Found items that look like my outfit for Industar 50 (collap.) Look for a push fit adapter (36 or 37mm) to Series 6 filter. You may have to buy shade separately. Some current vendors are glynncamera and pacificrimcamera.

I almost always shoot my Industar with a shade. Same goes for most other
FSU lenses.

I use my Industar on a Bessa R, R2a, FED 4, and FED 5 and don't have too much trouble with the VF and RF windows. I'm sure on smaller cameras, these types of hoods could easily interfere!
As for #2, yes any push fit filter makes changing the aperture on the Industar a pain! I mostly use use mine in "aperture priority" if I have a filter on it: I set the aperture , put the filter on and then use the shutter speed to vary exposure if I need to. Not perfect but workable.
If you get one of the FSU plastic push fit hoods, they should work pretty well but the ones I have gotten with I-26 and I-61 lenses--different lenses but very similar hood designs--are easy to knock off. And changing the aperture might still be a pain depending on if you can get your fingers in there or not!
I have done something else about this: I got a rigid Industar 50. With an original aluminum screw in hood. If I want to use a filter, I have a Leitz a36 to 39mm screw adapter. This clamps on and I can use 39mm filters and a 39mm screw in hood I got from "heavystar" on ebay. All together this set up did cost me about 2 1/2 or 3 times what I spent on the lens but I can use current coated filters and I now have a much more usable lens!

Thanks to Ctdogs for interesting addresses on ebay and to Rob (rbiemer) for the valuable informations. In particular, I did not know that I can use the collapsible Industar-22 on my Bessa R2A... I'm waiting a Leitz NY clamp-on A filter, very kindly given by Rick (Mr. Flibble). When it arrives, I'll have to figure out which hood to use (or buy if you DIY). A Leitz a36 to 39mm screw adapter would use a 39mm screw in hood on Leitz clamp on A filter?

The I-22 won't collapse all the way on the Bessa so be careful with it!
If you get one of the a36 to 39mm adapters, you should be able to use it directly on the lens and then you can use a 39mm screw filter and a hood. There might be some vignetting if you stack too many things on the end of your lens. With mine, one filter and a hood work OK. If you put the Leitz clamp on filter and then the a36 to 39mm adapter and then a hood, there might be some vignetting but I haven't done that so I can't say fore certain. And the vignetting might or might not be a problem for you.

thanks again for the tip! Now I try an adapter from A36 to 39 mm with the hood that I use the Color Scopar 35/2.5, with Leitz and without clamp to see which gives better results in terms of vignetting.

Yes, my hood cuts the lower margin of the viewfinder and yes, I'm not able to change apertures with the filter on.
However one gets used to the position of the filter in the viewfinder, and I choose carefully my subject, select the aperture and only place the filter after that - I like to take my time before each shot, I'm not a fast photographer, so for me...it works.

I agree with you: not a problem of fast photography, because I use the Industar22 on Zorki 4 and Fed-2 without meter. I don't know on a camera with aperture priority how it works ... But I don't think that I will mount the I-22 on my R2A ...

I've just created a lens hood for my Industar-22. First, thanks to Rick (Mr. Flibble) who very kindly gave me a filter ring Leitz A and that made my project possible. The metal hood (screw in) has a diameter of 40.5 mm. I had to put a little double sided tape between the ring and the hood. I have not yet developed the film to verify any vignetting, but I will tell as soon as the photos are ready. Thanks again to Rick and all those who helped me!
