Impressive finishing. The Germans need to give the US a clinic.

Not the coach, many England player perform so bad - this is always a problem that you see they play excellent football in premier league but not in international games. Rooney should not be one of the first 11 in this match as he is not in such a condition.
Anyway, I still a fan of England.

What a beatdown ...

I feel sorry for all of the English - they showed some fine proper football in the middle of the game - EXCEPT for Rooney. I prefer seeing him in the premier or champions league.
a pity about the 2:2, but I think even with it, the English wouldn't have made it through today.

Congratulations to Germans!
They were better even with young guys in a team.

FIFA needs to implement instant-replay review of goals.

Even if England gets the second goal - as it should have - it is still a beatdown ...

Congratulations to Germany on a fully deserved victory!
IMHO the scoreline reflected the difference between the two teams. Germany were very good, and apart from about 20 mins. of the game (and I'm being generous) England reverted to being rubbish. Not as bad as the game against Algeria though, at least we have that to be thankful for.
We had naive defending, no midfield at all, and Rooney completely off-form up front. Germany absolutely deserved this, but I think they'll find it tough if they come up against Argentina in their quarter-final. I think their defence is suspect to a close passing game and Argentina are good at that. Argentina need Walter Samuel to get fit to counterbalance the useless Demichelis, let's see how they do this evening against Mexico.

I am really happy about Uruguay! Vamos arriba la Celeste!
In the other hand, Ghana deserved the victory, congrazt too!
Uruguay plays very efficient fotball. Very good! But my favourite final would be between Argentina v Germany. - With Argentina taking home the Championship.

Germany's ball handling and speed, just amazing. I was shocked at how flat England came out after the half. Makes me wonder if they had be given that second goal before the half, if they would of been more energized. Perhaps its karma for Germany's 5-1 loss to England in 2001?

but Demichelis probably knows the german team better than anyone else in the argentinian team!
I'm not sure we need instant replay for the referee, it would probably kill the emotional energy of the game, but some kind of additional goal-line-referee would be a very useful thing in this kind of situation...

Which shows that when either Argentina or Germany is out of the Championship much of the fun goes too. These two plays the most entertaining football today.

(...) Germany (...) they do look like they can win the whole thing.
I hope they will, but I'm a little scared of Argentina: they have their own Özil -- Messi. He might even be the better Özil...
I'm all for Mexico tonight!
And for England: I really enjoy games against England -- did you notice how few fouls there were in the whole game? Very typical for matches with England. I really like them for that -- and for the fact that we usually win.

Müller is the man.
Just came back from public viewing. It's just a small one with about 150 people in our community center but it was very loud and emotional. Great. I'm still full of adrenalin.

Someone on the Guardian UK posted that Rooney was a Fergie sleeper agent! Love the humor.
