RRS or leica hand grip

Hi I am, planning on getting a grip to handle large lens better VC 35 1.2 (my wrist hurts)

how is the RRF grip as price wise is approx the same

That looks like a solid and well engineered grip.
The ergonomics and shape look great.

Just one concern. I'm guessing it would be heavier than the Leica hand grip.
Maybe not good for your wrist. 😱

RRS is a well made grip with precision fit and finish! However, it is heavier than the Leica or the Photoequip MD grips. RRS is built to utilize mounting on a ball head and tripod. One major issue of the complete RRS grip set is that the vertical L bracket gets in the way of your carrying strap on the left side (viewfinder side). You have to remove one side of your strap from the camera body to attach to the small RRS strap lug hole, making this difficult to use interchangeably between other grips or cases when desired!!🙁 I would suggest RRS to extend the L bracket outward a bit to accommodate utilization of the camera body strap lug.🙄

I have a rapidgrip (Tom A. www.rapidwinder.com) for my MP and I love it. It's superbly machined, no slippy cover or anything, just pure metal. But there's no version (yet) for M8/9.

I've just got hold of a Leica grip for my M8 and I'm more than happy with it.

For me it has improved the camera's handling no end despite my initial reservations before buying one without trying. My only regret? I wish I'd bought one months ago!

I guess grips aren't for everyone but really loving mine and the *fat* M8 is now a pleasure to use.

I've used grips on almost every camera I have owner over the years. They would feel naked to me w/o one.

I'd rate the grips as follows:
1. RRS setup if you use the camera on a tripod as well as hand held.
1. Photoequip MD grip. If you don't use a tripod or or have a bracket and want to mount the tripod bracket on the grip
3. Leica grip

As with Lewis44, I like grips... I have the Leica grip on my M8. Not surprisingly it provides a secure hold on the camera, helping handling and avoiding any mishaps. As it completely replaces the baseplate, it's more compact than some aftermarket units.

Just unscrew the L bracket part? The RRS is modular, but then you know that because you have one. It is by far the smallest L bracket in town for M8/9.

Worth noting that the L bracket is attachable with my shoulder strap on the camera, but it pinches it against the camera. I use a wrist strap attached on the right side most of the time so it's not an issue.
