Dear all,

My Leica M6 loses the "Rubber Inserts for Strap Protection", the right one.

Who know where to buy or replace it? Please let me know if you have any information.

Thank you very much.

They appear to have been designed to fall off. Any one have an adhesive suggestion?

Use black or clear silicone as adhesive...the kind designed for caulking glass and bath tubs.

A small dot is enough, and would not damage the metal surface.

One of the strap protectors broke earlier in the year on my M6. This is the Leica technician's answer to my e-mail enquiry - it doesn't appear to be as simple as gluing them on:

Dear Sir,
*********** Thank you for your e-mail regarding the strap protectors on your M6.* As these are fastened from the inside, it would be advisable to send your camera to us. A missing protector could allow a light leakage **********on to the film. The cost of doing this as well as generally checking and carrying any minor adjustments where necessary to the camera would be in the region of £80.00 plus VAT.

Regards

Bob Herriott

Technician

They did do the job at Milton Keynes very quickly and for this price.

Wow...sounds like bull**** to me.

Well I'm afraid it isn't unless Leica UK has a habit of misleading its customers. There was no hint of glue whatsoever on the strap protector that broke and there was a small (brass?) pin which was still attached through the top plate holding on what was left of the broken protector. I had originally enquired as to whether I could glue another back on myself.

(The "*" symbols appeared in my text from an original e-mail message that was copied and pasted from Microsoft Entourage - they correspond to line beaks in the original message and why they appeared I've no idea. I haven't added anything or taken anything away from Mr Herriott's text if that's how it looks.)
