I have been using a Ricoh GR1 for a while now and really like everything about it, but I am curious if theres a P&S that matches/ or surpasses its shutter lag.

I'm very happy with the Contax T3 (and I'm very critical of shutter lag).

I switched from a gr1 to a T3, but for other reasons (the lens). I think there is less lag, but there is still lag.

I use a Contax T - and shutter lag is not a concern with this little jewel.

have yet to use a GR1 - but the Contax T3 has very very little to no shutter lag (IMHO).
The key is to set the custom function so that the lens extends out when you press the shutter button half way to focus. It extends to position, then when you press the shutter
all the way it fires. Without setting this, there is way more lag. If you dont set this custom function, it will wait to extend the lens until you press the shutter all the way.

I have been wanting a GR1 one for the 28mm lens. I have a T3 and its REALLY hard to beat even though its a 35mm lens. Interesting to hear comparison of the two from people
who own both. Would love to know if there are more noteworthy comparisons (aside from focal length and price).

Even with pre-focus, the Contax T3 has some shutter lag. The original T has absolutely none - better than my Canon 1Ds, Contax RTS3, Leica M4. It is, however, a manual-focus RF (with leaf shutter).

Original T is manual focus, so no lag there.
If you want 0 shutter lag on the T3 you need to zone focus.

Olympus AF-1 and AF-10 mini are fastest AF cameras I have ever tried!
