look at the metal back of the front chair...kinda glowy?

It look like it may be a bit outside the DOF field. compair the soft edges with chair in the front left corner. But, that little "glowy" area could be flair, maybe from the back panel section that has a hot spot on it, and reflecting off the medal chair? weird man!

might be the filter, it's a rodenstock, nice filter, but my lens cloth seems to be in need of a cleaning as it's leaving more smudges than not behind.

at least i hope that's all it is...

It doesn't look unusual to me for a 1.2 shot.

I believe it is a combination of blur outside the DOF and blooming of the highlights, The blooming is more noticeable because it borders the shadows.

Irradiation or halation or both.

The former is caused by the light being scattered through the thickness of the emulsion, the latter by reflection from the back of the emulsion support.

Possibly also lens flare.

Joe, the problem is, I guess, on the center of the picture, the thick double structure of the metal tube, right?
Sorry, nothing intelligent to say but it doesn't look like a classical OOF area, even for a very fast lens.
