Doh! My bad - thanks for pointing out my error. But given that the there are in infinate number of numbers - why would Nikon reuse sn for different mounts? But I don't much about Nikon lenses so I'll shut up about it
Nikon did re-use SN's for later lenses.
Early Nikkor lenses used a date-code based serial number that included the year and month of the order. This lens does not follow that format.
I think it is a Canon lens, hacked from something.
I have a hacked Canon 50/1.5 made from the front portion of a Canon and rear of a J-3. Who knows, in 50 years on Ebay...
