give them away to a local craft shop for customers who purchase beads etc and need a storage solution.

Hi,
I tape three or four of them together for a days load of shooting. Keeps them organized in my bag. One of the containers is full of spare batteries and a soft wipe etc . I have different colors for different film types.

Black ones for bulk loads, and my son uses the white translucent ones to mix paint for airbrushing.

The best camera is one that still works!
Hang on to them telling myself how usefull they are until I'm sick of the sight of them ... and then can't seem to find a use for them ... so scrap them!

Many young kids love them just to play with.
Older kids use them to store personal junk.
People in mechanical positions love them to store small nuts, bolts, pieces and parts.
Some people find them an ideal size for personal storage of combustible recreational agricultural product (buy California, don't support the Mexican cartels)
I shoot a lot of 35mm film and believe that a large majority of my film cans get reused for something other than storing film.

A friend of ours is a school teacher (Second Grade) and I give them to her...
She uses them for "Tooth Storage"...if a child's tooth falls out during the school day it gets put in there for safe transport home...
I have another full bag for her right now...
Now, I need something to use all these 120 spools...

Let's see...
1) As WalterM mentioned, I use a few for the "spare" parts from various laptop computers I've worked on and/or cannibalized for various clients.
2) I use them to "B-wind" color-neg rolls I get from the lab (pro or mini), always uncut, in order to eliminate or minimize curl. (This is less of a problem with Kodak's top-tier films, but still a bit of an issue with stuff like their Gold color-neg films.)
3) One film container will hold one set of spare CR-2 batteries for one of my Hexar RF bodies, and one CR-123A battery for my Contax Tvs. Since the "lease" on my Leica M2 is about up (and the owner hasn't offered an option to buy), having spare batteries on hand is a slightly bigger deal, although the Hex and Contax are fairly miserly in terms of energy consumption.
4) Great for keeping earplugs on hand when riding the subway!

They make excellent, clean and waterproof containers for your viewfinders. Almost all of mine are in a film can of their own. Exception is the CV 15mm finder (plastic), which is too big.

Oh, I use them to store various small items, hardware from projects, electronic items, medications, I give them to the kids, to the cats, cut them up into various projects ...
But hey - I can't bs you folks. I hoard them. When I process a roll, I put the canister into a bag and ... well, keep it. Like I said, I do have uses for them, but I also have several thousand stashed in bright yellow bags.

mine get tossed into a bag along with the metal canisters. I keep telling myself they'll come in handy if i ever decide to bulk load again. I also keep telling myself I'll never bulk load again so I'm right back where I started. I should probably recycle them.
