Hi everyone,

This is my first original thread here, after looking around for almost a year. 😀

Currently I have 2 bodies (M3 and M2) and 2 lenses ('cron 35 and 50, both v.1), which I love all of them. However, sometime I feel like f/2 is not enough for my favorite genre (low light, life+street shots). So I start looking for faster lens.

At first I think I gonna get CV 35/1.4 S.C. as my fast lens. But to carry 2 35mm lenses around is quite irrational in my idea. I know that CV is good (for their price), but I'm still love "Leica" result.

Then I found someone who wants to sell his ‘lux 35 v.2 at reasonable price (not cheap, just reasonable).

So now, the question change, is it right choice to get ‘lux 35 v.2 and sell my ‘cron 35 v.1? I need that extra stop, even I know that ‘lux v.2 is not very good at wide open (Hey, that “Glow” is it signature, correct?). Or should I wait, collect the money for ‘lux 35 and keep both of them later (I cannot afford to keep both of them at this time)?

Also, after search around for information about ‘lux 35, it’s very hard to find any article about ‘lux 35 v.1. Does it terrible and nobody want to talk about it or it's very rare?

Thanks in advance,

(I’m sorry if my English makes you confuse, it’s not my native language)

I love the signature of the 35mm Summilux-M pre-ASPH (I have a late German-made one) and once also had the 35mm Summicron-M pre-ASPH (vs. 4) in parallel. I sold the Summicron and kept the Summilux, because except for the closer focus of the Summicron (0.7m vs 1m for the Summilux) I preferred my Summilux-M.

If you want sharp (and I mean sharp !) already at f/1.4 and want Leica than you should get the 35/1.4 ASPH.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum !!

Of your lens choices, I only have experience with the Summicron v.1, which I like a lot. I did use a Summilux ASPH but sold it after I bought a Summicron 35 ASPH. So I have two Leica 35/2 lenses and if I need an extra stop I just use faster film. I use film at 100, 400 and 1600 ISO.

I'm talking about while I have to take pictures at speed 1/8 sec on f/2 ISO400. I know I can push the ISO up, but normally I have both night and day picture in one roll. That's the problem.

Anyways, my friend just told me that I can try his CV nokton 50/1.1 and 35/1.2. One of them might be my solution because I also can use it as portrait lens on my GF-1 too.

Thanks for all comments.
