Walgreens in my town has discontinued some film and I bought it all. Couldn't pass it up. Not expired either.

Kodak Ultramax 800ISO 5 pack 24 exp--$3.99--two boxes
Kodak BW400CN 3 pak 24 exp--$3.24--four boxes

Apparently, they won't be stocking these films anymore--maybe the same in your town? They haven't stopped selling other film--they had some on a rack.

At any rate, Walgreens is the only place in town that will develop film in house. And the person behind the counter said they do develop lots of film.

So, go check your Walgreens and see if they have some discontinued film cheap!

I was there a couple of days ago, and they had their shelves stocked with the same usual stuff (Kodak, Walgreens house brand). Their lab gets a brisk business with film.

Maybe it's a management decision. Our Walmart cut down on the film they carry a few years ago... but then, they also cut down on batteries (carry less types now).

Target sold a lot of its film for a pittance because they were closing their store for remodeling. I got several 5-packs of film for a pittance... and haven't run out yet! 🙂

In any case... I'll check out my store. Thanks for the announcement!

Thanks for the heads up. I will check on my local Walgreens. As much as I like the convenience, I am most frustrated with the way they develop and print the BW400CN. Everytime I develop one there, the prints come out with horrible red or green tint. I have tried talking to the people there to see if they can tweak the settings in the machine to plain black and white, but most all are ignorant and not ready to delve into anything different from what they are used to.

Maybe they are discontinuing the BW400CNs because too many people complained about the b&w prints with C41 processing they do?

I had an interesting chat with a Walgreens shop manager a few years ago, right during the transition from Agfa to Fuji, and during that spate of "no scans without ordering prints" nonsense.

He assured me that there were no regional or corporate plans to phase out film, but also remarked that they track the movement of each and every item they stock, and if something, almost anything, does not sell over certain timeframes, they will drop it from their inventory, period.

I suspect that's what happened with these certain items.

I won't ask for prints from the BW400CN film. Purple cast the first time was enough for me. I ask that they develop and scan. I can then convert to grayscale in Photoshop.
