I am too dim, and arrogant, to study others. I admire some, Vivian Maier just amazes me. A complex, mysterious person with amazing gifts. So other than flipping through some photo books what will I try this new year, 2025? To get off my ass and out of the house with a camera. I have been much too reclusive. And the interior of my home is not for photographing, the outside world is. So I hope to bore all of you senseless with a year of stuff. That my not too resolute resolution.

For 2025, I resolve:
- To make no more than one new 100+ megapixel camera purchase
- To resist the urge to add a "Kwanon" to my collection
- To reduce spending on stuff that I will never use, or even remember buying: "Ugh, this thing is so 3 PM yesterday"
- To avoid buying stuff in order to get validation from others, unless you folks really think I ought to

Probably get a K3 and increase my use of Pentax further since I'm enjoying it so much.
A few more of their prime Limited lenses if the budget allows and the economy doesn't crater the way I expect it to in the coming year.
Keep taking as many photos of the local landscape as I can.

mostly to get better at planning photo-centric outings in my normal schedule
i also would like to find a preferred film stock to buy in bulk shoot a lot of rolls on; i feel like i experiment on different film stocks so much that i dont have a great feel of visualizing what each one will look like
i am pretty much happy with my camera bodies and might get like 1 or 2 lenses

Yes to all what you said.
I am especially partial to the Nikon Z5. The Zfc also appeals, given it smaller size and zippy power in what it can do and does.

Exactly this how I feel about my Leica iif kit.
It's the most mechanical camera I own. German made, so it does all it can do supremely well given a little effort and some applied basic intelligence.
The only problem I have with it is that it's film.
At this time in my long life I'm almost at the point of choosing to drink a glass of rat poison rather than spend more of what little time I have left in my life, in the darkroom.
Film processing and scanning I can live with, But all those hours spent printing and especially using up entire forests of FB paper to end up with one so-so print of something I then decide I could easily have lived without anyway, in a word - puke...!

Finish building a darkroom I started five years ago…and use it. Make time for photography and add more creativity to my life.

Looks like the camera market will be flooded in 2025.
I don't quite get why so many rffers want to get rid of so much gear (in most cases there is the will, but not the deed, right?). Tuck away the bad conscience and just enjoy your possessions instead! Soon enough those lovely, fascinating machines will be taken out of our hands.

As an additional goal, maybe I can try to put aside some money and hopefully get into the Contax SLR world. I was madly in love with the ST/RX/Aria/RTS cameras back in the 90s but never really bought any.

I can't speak for anyone else but when I gave away three pretty good cameras in the Christmas giveaway it was because I'd rather see them used than see them sit on my shelf gathering dust. Your mileage will vary.
I have every intention of getting more this coming year - I have my eye on a Pentax K3 forex ... 🥰

Spend less time doing street photography and more time with my GFX100SII on a tripod doing landscape photography.
My non-photography New Year resolutions are a list of the usual annual lies:
Eat less, drink less alcohol, exercise more, lose weight, get in shape, look better, feel better, run back-to-back marathons, retake the title of the worlds greatest lover, get my blood pressure down, write more poetry… the list goes on.
