for carrying an rd1 with small lens attached, 2 batteries and a few business cards?

what i have on hand is either too small or too big!

I'm done! with bags. :)

I like the satchel style Domke 803. But there will be lots of spare space after your kit in inside. Room for a novel, water bottle, and an iPad. That's not a bad thing.

the terraclime 50 is just a touch too small, the 100 too big.

this would be for one camera with lens attached.

a bag for a disciplined shooter ;)

Joe,
I guess that Domke I sent you doesn't fill the bill! :)

I find that the Crumpler 5-Million Dollar Bag is perfect. Just right for camera with a lens (rangefinder or slr) and a couple of lenses. There's a sewn-in mesh pouch in the cover flap that's perfect for holding many rolls of film... Ooops, sorry Joe. And the bag is super rugged.

I've used this bag for a couple of years now and its proven itself to be nearly the ideal street photography bag for me.

the little domke is great, though the strap was made for a midget...but it's bigger than i need.
i'd like a bag that will fit but have no extra room - for just a camera and lens...

I swear by the Thinktank Urban Disguise 30. It is compact enough for a ZI with lens attached plus 1 other lens, film and small accessories, such as filters... of and a small water bottle, yet configurable enough for a DSLR with midsized zoom and accessories, as well as the aforementioned water bottle.

If you want something smaller, the UD 20 may fit your needs.

Don's Photos in Edmonton (2 stores - one on 156th, the other on 99th) is a licensed distributor in your neck of the woods. Might want to give them a call.

Think Tank Urban Disguise or A&A ( choose the size that fits your needs) Wonderful quality. A&A more retro.

I'd be looking at some of the Billingham organizer-style bags, the "Stowaway" series. Not padded, not cheap, but what can I say? I've been tempted to buy one for my Zikon - it's only the Murse Factor thats stopping me.

the crumplers are great bags, though mine is too large for that kit (it can hold my etrsi with 4 lenses and a couple of backs...)
I retrofitted a simple messenger bag with all the extra inserts i had from various bags and it is my daily bag lighter than any of the others i have (holds either the rangefinder and 2 lenses or my k 10 and 2 lenses) and a book and few other things.

Not taken with the saddleback bag I'm afraid. It looks heavier than than the gear I will be putting in it, the reason I opt for my Barebones bags before my Domkes.

I find a pair of Domke's suite me perfectly, and use the F-5XA and F-5XB.

The F-5XA is the one I'd recommend for your load, as I find it fits a single rf/ compact slr quite easily, with spare space in the main compartment for a lens, and with two front pockets for film/ batteries etc. It is my one-body bag, with the F-5XB serving as my two-body bag, and after many years searching for the most suitable bag for my shooting rigs, I find this pair suit my needs perfectly and don't envisage buying any more bags.
