Recomend Me a 100iso 120 film

OK I asked about Shanghai films and have excluded them from my search. So I want a nice 100 film, I do not like Ilfords Delta or Kodaks Tmax films. I am in the UK so please bear in mind what is available to me. I intend to use it in the first place for textural details, then I will be doing some portraits as well under studio lights. In 400 I have enjoyed HP5, Fuji and Tri X, HP5 was my favorite mono film. I am looking for a fine grain and would consider going lower, it will be shot on an ETRS with the standard lens. Thank you all very much for your thoughts
 
Plus-X is probably my favorite film. It can be contrasty but it's a fine grained emulsion and has a ton of latitude. Granted, I tend to also use all older lenses which are sharp but lower on the contrast in their drawing. This is also a consideration for what emulsion to choose.
Easy to process and get a great image from it, so it's forgiving. On 120 the tonality is superb. My $.02

On a side note do Ilford make their film in the UK? I do like to buy British, I thought they were but it might have been a deluded imagination:D
 
I like Fomapan 100, may not be the finest grain and it curls quite badly, but it looks really quite nice and is pretty cheap.
 
This is a neutral and medium contrast film, and very un-hipster like Tri-X - Neopan 100 SS. I got 10 rolls at Freestyle a couple of years back and got great images from various D76 dilutions, as well as Caffenol recipes.
 
Really about any 100-125 ISO film from the big three vendors I tried was pretty darn good. The 2nd tier manufacturers can be good too, but too often ruin the fun by emulsion defects.
 
Easy choice here - if you like HP5 go for Ilford FP4, very nice tonality esp with portraiture!

Acros is also a very nice film, very sharp, but different in tonality than "classic" films like FP4. In 120 it almost looks a bit digital because you just don't see any grain (and it's got a "orthopanchromatic" emulsion - whatever that is...). Very very smooth.
Shoot a roll of each and decide.

Definately worth the test.

Adox "Art Films" CHS come in 25-50-100 ASA's But I find that the "50" rated at 100 and then developed at that rating. Will give very good values. Also you can develop it in several different developers based on preference. I would also suggest the Rollei "Retro 80" and rate it a 100. Very neutral values and long tonal range. Also another good choice. A thin film with very nice fine grain.
 
Perhaps it would be easier to help if you said what you are looking for in the film. What don't you like about Delta and TMAX for example?
 
Rollei retro 80S - very fine grain, red sensitivity in ir and nice tonality

FP4+ - nice tonality, not as fine grain, but fine in mf

Acros - i prefer rodinal to xtol

fomapan or adox are also interesting - noce tonality and more grain
 
+1 for Fuji Acros, fantastic film, develop it in Rodinal and it's gorgeous.

Also, Plus-X is a close runner up in 120.
 
I personally use Plus-X, but FP4+ or Acros should be good too. If you want a bit finer grain and better reciprocity behavior, go Acros. If you want more of a classic look, go with one of the first two.
