Which kit set will you buy?

the best bet and cheapest option is still the original g1 with 14-45. get a 20 if you need a faster lens.

i eventually settled on g1 and 20 plus 14-140, great kit.

i bought the g1 without lens, then the M adapter, and have spent the first month trying just the M lenses. so far, so good, with 42/2.8, 70/1.4, 100/1 and 150/1.4 all working well.

if (IF) i go for a m4/3 lens, it will probably be the 14-45 (for the price and size), or the 14-140 for its wide range. i'm curious to see how the poll turns out 😕.

Been with E-PL1 + Panny 20mm for a while. Only one complain I had was lack of EVF (almost impossible to buy at reasonable price in the US). Finally got one and it should be here tomorrow. I'm happy with the kit.

I just bought an EP-1 with 14-42 from a major uk retailer for £313, brand new in box. Love the camera the lens is quite good for a cheepie and its far nicer than walking around with a big dslr. I went for the oly over the panasonic for the sensor i.s. Now I have to wait to get the 20mm I loved 40mm on film more than 35 or 50. The zoom is hand to walk round with, now I am waiting for an m42 adaptor.

I just ordered an EP2 w 17/2.8 and EVF from Spencer's Camera, modified for visible+near infrared, "full Spectrum" for the sensor.

First Digital camera bought for work in almost 10 years.

You may find the EVF on the G1 a great bargain right now.... You still have a very nice Tilt/Swivel for arm length shooting too.
I paid $240.00 a few months ago for mine with under 2k on the shutter.

with adapted lenses a EVF is a preferred method in my option for manual focusing. And you don't need to keep it your pocket when not on the EP-2. GF1.

I have the GF1+20 1.7 and I am pretty happy with this combo. The icing on the cake is that I am awaiting the m43->M adapter any day now so that I can use my 2 M lenses. 😛

I vote for the Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 on the new Panasonic GP1 : Black paint all metal body, built-in Hybrid EVF "rangefinder-like" (as the Fuji X100), silent shutter, tiltable screen, new Epson sensor, 1500$ at Amazon or B&H.
I have a dream… but we never know… wait and see…

I sold my Pentax K20D and 3 lens (16-45, 105 macro, 70-300) and got a CV 28/1.9 ASPH, Pentax Super Program/M-40/2.8/Vivatar 28/2, AND and Panasonic G1/17mm f/2.8, then sold the 17 to get the 20/1.7 + an M adapter.

For the money, the G1 is a great value, and very usable at ISO 1000 with a proper NR program. It's really fairly low, but a tweak in the NR in good too.

Then, in a year or 2, get the GH2 used. The BEST High ISO in any 4/3 or m4/3 camera to date, + AVHAD Video.

I rushed and bought a Pan GF-1 with 20mm pancake. I like the manual dials on the GF1 and dont like the lack of them on the GF2.

I have a metabones M to 4/3 adaptor, and a L39 to 4/3 on order.

My plan is to sell my M7 and Summicron 50mm, and keep my Bessa T, along with my CV25 snaphot, CV 35mm and a couple of FSU 50mm.

Not sure about my CV 90mm.

So far, I like the GF1 a lot, and have even started to like the EVF.

I am pleased with my E-PL1 and I think that the 17mm Zuiko will be a perfect companion. The 20mm Panny looks a little ugly with that gley plastic to me.

None of them : Oly Pen have poor sensors and Leica M lenses aren't so great on M43 sensors (better to use C-mount lenses or Pentax 110 lenses on it).
More, Olympus M43 lenses are really bad, so you might buy a Pana 20mm with the Pen in order to have an AF lens (forget that damned zooms!)
So, OLy E-P2 + VF-2 + Pana 20mm is about EUR 600 to 1200 : it's not a bargain!

I would buy one of these :

EUR 300 : Second-Hand Ricoh GR-D + Wide-Angle element + VF
EUR 400 : Second-Hand G1 + 20mm
EUR 1200 : Second-Hand Leica M8

Beginning my m43 adventure today with an E-PL2 14/2.5 and 14-42 Mk.II - also have an m39 and Nikon F adapters with some nice lenses to try out. Especially looking forward to trying my CV 35/2.5 and Canon 50/1.8 RF lenses.

I shoot everything from 5x7 on down to APS digital (but no 24x36 digital yet) -- I think I have realistic expectations for the format.

The Oly 17/2.8 is an underperformer, but the short kit zooms (14-42 Mk I & II) are surprisingly good - at least as good as the Nikon counterparts I've used (i.e., normal range consumer zooms). As for the Oly sensor being ng...depends on what you are looking for. When Steve Huff and others say that the EPL1/2 produces the best jpegs they've seen, they are not kidding. I purchased the EPL1 as small interchangeable lens digital camera to throw into a small bag with my M6 and have been very happy with the results. Pixel peepers may not be happy, but my m4/3 cameras see a lot more use and produce a lot more keepers than my DSLR - because they're always with me.
