I'm confused on what lenses are considered DX and FX, and this is the only photo forum I'm a member of, so pardon me for asking this here.
I'm thinking of purchasing a D700. I have a 28-70 AF-S ED 2.8, and an 80-200 AF-S ED 2.8
Will these lenses work on the full frame D700? Are they considered FX lenses?

Those are both FX lenses. You're fine. Enjoy the new camera.

My M5s need red dots!
Usually, the DX glass is labeled as such: DX. If it's not, then pay attention to some peculiar sounding focal lenghts, like 18-200 or 55-200 (in zooms). Or lenses like a 35 f1.8 over which nobody makes a fuss... because it has the field of view of a 50mm lens.
In any event, your lenses are FX, that is "full frame." Enjoy the D700!

They will work with the D700. They're considered FX lenses.

The best camera is one that still works!
If it doesn't actually say DX on the lens then it means it's full frame and will be fine on a D700. I think AF-S are the first of what they call the 'silent wave' type.
These links should clarify it for you ... I was a little confused about what was what for a while and these charts helped a lot.
