Reviewers complain about how "flimsy" these are, but they don't break unless you abuse or do something really careless to the camera. You can more easily knock the lens out of true or destroy the LCD than break off those doors. At least in my three years experience of buying and rehabbing/repurposing used and abused digicams.

I just broke my GH1 door - doing nothing special, just opened it to take the SD card.
I love my GH1 because it's a video killer, but it's really cheaply made!
The broken door is not so terrible because my GH1 is full of black tape (no brands on my cameras) so I will just put a little piece of black tape more…

I rather doubt that the mod has missed how many are infected with the crazy full moon X100 virus. I'm voting for a non-serious thread. The interest and speculation surrounding this camera is only surpassed by speculation regarding God and the afterlife..sorry reincarnation.. sorry.. cold and lifeless.

Yeah, that was my vote as well.
I just can't wrap my head around why people care SO much about a fixed lens $1200 camera. Let alone if it gets scratched. Insanity.

No offense intended here, because it could certainly happen to anyone, but they don't spontaneously break from normal use unless there was a factory defect in a particular unit. Which does happen, but doesn't affect battery doors any more often than any other part.

Gotta say- WAY easier to use the Contax mount lenses with the EP2. I can even use a Voigtlander Prominent 50mm F1.5 Nokton using a Prominent to Contax, Contax to M-Mount, and M-Mount to u43 count.

I can't even begin to say how much I'm enjoying not just adapting classic lenses to the E-PL1, but fabricating them out of various parts to fit particular needs. It's OT in this thread so I won't go on about it, but yeah. It is a dream platform, not just for the tinkering itself but for the flexibility for actual photographic goals.
