I have a question for those who own and love the way C-Sonnar draw: Is there any other 28/35 mm lens that you own and love and draws like it? I was reading some older threads and seem to get conflicting answers, so I want to hear from those who own and love both lens. I do have a ZM 35/2 and their drawings are different... Thanks.

I wish I could help, I own a Voigtlander CV 28mm f/1.9 ASPH...which is a nice lens, draws more like an older design than the newer CV 28mm f/2, (I have owned both), but, it's not like the C-Sonnar, which I also own (f/2.8 optimized)

The Biogons are pretty close if you asked me. I now use a Rollei Sonnar 40mm that is pretty classic sonnar in it's look. Flares a bit. At least more than the Biogons do.

I am thinking more about how the C-Sonnar render skin and in-and-out of focus transition... I was thinking about the Rollei too, but at 40mm and 2.8 is not significantly far away from C-Sonnar, so I was hoping that there are some 28/35 ~F2...

Thanks for the sample, the Rollei is lovely, I was actually going through your flickr set last night, but I want to try something shorter and faster... 40 is a little too close to 50 for me, wish Zeiss did what Rollei did and issue a 35/2.8 Sonnar from their T3...

So is the 28/1.9 the closest I can get? What about the 35 Ultron or Skopar? M- or UC-Hex? ...

I had the 35mm Nokton, which is a modern rendering lens, So, Can't say, But, if the "Ultron" name means a similar optical design regardless of focal length, it may be similar... The 35mm f/1.7 is a very popular lens, if you can find a used one.

Ya, I think I am going to take a look at the Ultron, if I can find one that is :bang: Don't think Voigtlander use the name to indicate the optical design though, e.g. Nokton 35/1.4 & 35/1.2

Voigtlander may use names like Leitz, to indicate the fastest f/stop, Zeiss uses names for optical formula for the most part.
