The Dude: Jeff Bridges photography

I found this website when looking at a link posted by our own digitalintrigue (Robert) on his facebook page. Some cool work by the Dude, apparently much of it shot with a Widelux.

One of my favourite actors I have to say ... 'The Great Lebowski' was a hell of a film and I've heard he's very good as Rooster in the 'True Grit' remake.

I've owned and used a Widelux (F7) for years. It's a great camera to use, but very difficult to get the calibre of images Mr. Bridges does...a truly unique machine for a truly unique artist.

Several years ago I was browsing through the photography section at the Boston Public Library, just looking for anything interesting, and I saw this book jutting out from the shelf by several more inches than the rest of the books. The spine said Jeff Bridges on it, and I thought "surely this is just another person named Jeff Bridges who happens to be a photographer." I opened it up, and sure enough, it was "the" Jeff Bridges. I learned two things that day: 1) that there's such a camera as the Widelux (thereby opening my eyes to panoramic cameras), and 2) Mr. Bridges is very talented with his. I love the pictures he takes of people where he has them make two faces while the lens scans across the frame, like the one on this page: http://www.jeffbridges.com/ironmanbook_14.html. I also like that he regularly updates his site with his latest movies.

Does this film have a different name Down Under? It's The Big Lebowski in the US. Of course, you folks speak a different version of English than Americans 😉

Really nice. Impressive work for sure.

The selfies in the Tron album make me think of the shots Al Kaplan used to do with the 15mm Heliar and his Bessa. Maybe Mr. Bridges would like to put in a word somewhere to get Al's work published? :angel:
