I apologize for only posting a link to a different forum, but I'm hoping the owner or an acquaintance might frequent RFF and see this.

I would contact Leica to see if the M8 is registered to someone.

And I was wondering where I left that old thing.
someone posted this yesterday as well.
I'd say it cannot be posted enough if a fellow m mount user gets their camera back. I hope we hear the outcome.

wow, talk about luck to the one who lost their M8 falling into their hands of an honest person. I feel warm inside.

It would seem that Leica would have contact info. from registration or would know what dealer the camera was shipped to (and the dealer would likely have the buyer's contact info.) Leica might not want to give the information out but I'd be surprised if Leica wouldn't help contact the owner.

Was it at the corner of Peachtree St and Peachtree Ave, or thereabouts? That's the closest I can come to thinking where I last had it. Please have him ship it immediately and I will return it if it is not mine. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately the guy never registered the stuff.
The gear was bought in New York and Pennsylvania, so hope is that the dealers have the records, because mrphoto tells me Leica doesn't have the info...

I'd say this guy has done enough to find the owner... I say enjoy your new M8 and lens.

This is obvious and you probably already did this but if you haven't contact the police , lost and found, in the city where you found it.

Or , after telling everybody on this site exactly where you found it , to the exact square foot (use google map) return the gear to that exact location after giving 48 hours notice to this forum. Guarantee equipment will be found.

The best camera is one that still works!
Meh ... I wouldn't keep it.
The crop factor would drive me mad!
