Have discovered what I think is a focus glitch and was wondering if others have come across it. I find that I can only get the camera to focus at infinity when it is in centre point auto focus mode. When in multi point auto-focus mode it will only focus up to around 17 feet and when in manual mode trying to focus using the AFL/AEL button will only focus up to around 15 feet (Also when I turn the focus ring I can hear the lens moving when I manually focus to infinity). This has been in bright daylight with high contrast subjects so something is not right. The shots also appear to be out of focus. The camera is going back to fuji uk tomorrow for the rangefinder problem but I'm somewhat hacked off as us early adopters seem to be being used as BETA testers

Hi David,

I put my X100 in 'MULTI' AF mode, set to AF-S. It would occasionally (somewhat randomly!) focus on houses opposite me past the 10m mark (~33ft) [I was inside, and these were about the furthest things in view]. I do remember it intermittently locking focus on the 5m mark, which is no-mans land between my house and the ones opposite!

In manual focus, the focus point is fixed (albeit selectable), as per the 'AREA' AF mode [if I remember correctly?]. Using the AFL/AEL button would also focus on the houses, past the 10m mark.

Not sure if this helps. You should ask the repair guys to check it out.

I am becoming a bit worried about it's focussing, especially (unfortunately) with the OVF. Parallax error and a fairly large focus zone (for single centre selective) does give misfocussing at wide apertures at medium distances more often than it should resulting in it being very annoying. No old film AF camera with as much parallax error seemed to have this problem! With all four methods (OVF manual, OVF AF-S, AF-C, EVF variants) give different results on the same selected subject.

I've started to use the OVF more (Which I really didn't want to do) because at least at wide apertures you can see pretty well very quickly if it has focussed on the target or not. MInd you, it still won'y give you the focus distance in the EVF, only the rear screen despite customizing the EVF/rear!

Had long conversation with a tech guy at fuji UK today who on trying it out on a camera as we spoke confirmed my findings. He has since sent these to fuji in japan so hopefully this issue will get sorted

I have the same issue. ~70% of my photos are at least slightly off. And the camera NEVER, EVER focuses at infinity unless I am pointing to an empty sky. And even then...
