Kodak Plus-X in Rodinal?

I'm interested in first-hand experience accounts of Kodak Plus-X (PX) developed in Rodinal. Comparisons with Tri-X would be particularly useful. More specifically: would Plus-X rated at box speed give better highlight and/or shadow gradation as compared to Tri-X rated at 200-250, when used in bright sunlight (about 1/250 f/8 at 125 iso)?

Hello:

PlusX rated at ISO100 in Rodinol 1/50 gives fine graduation, brilliant highlights and good shadow detail. Trix in Rodinol gives extraordinary graduation but my personal choice has been HP5+ which is not to everyone's taste.

Very good combination. Rodinal is my favourite for almost any old type BW film. I even pushed the FP4 to ISO800 in Rodinal with really nice result. It performs well in D76 too. I'm still using a bottle of Rodinal that is at least five years old...
Attached is a ISO 800 picture developed in 1:50 mix for 30 mins in 24 degr. celsius.

Bumping this old thread for some more info...

I shot about 4 rolls of PX125 in Utah under very bright light, rated at IE 50 and will be processing in Rodinal. Any processing advice?

Slower film like PX125 will gain contrast quickly especially when you overexpose it.
I'd go with 1+50 for 11 min (out of my usual 12min). with two inversion every 3 min.

PXP (E.I. 100) in Rodinal 1+50 13:00 minutes.
So for E.I. 50 11-12 minutes will be fine.

Works fine if somewhat grainy. 12.5 min @ 68 , for a condenser enlarger. 1:75 dilution. 10 sec every 60 for agitation.

Thanks for this post, Will. That's for iso 50, right? I shot some PX125 at box speed last summer, developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 13 mins. at 20C, and was not completely happy w/ the results. A little too grainy for my taste, particularly when compared to developing in Diafine. Here's a sample, developed in Rodinal as just summarized:

Like FP4+ is PXP not a fine grain combination with Rodinal.

Looking at APX 100 / Rollei Retro 100 the result in 1+50 is much better, spoken about grain in that way. (35mm example)
