I just got a "new" CLE and 40mm Rokkor off Ebay this weekend. Maybe it's just the newness, but I'm really liking this little guy! My M4 is jealous!

I put a roll of Velvia through it over the weekend, and boy was I impressed. (I haven't used slide film in years.)

One question though... My rangefinder is just a little bit off. When I focus my lens at infinity and look through the viewfinder at a faraway object, the images don't quite line up.

Does anyone have any recommendations where I can get the rangefinder aligned and a good CLA?

If you can live without it for a few months, DAG Camera Repair will fix it for you at a reasonable price. He's very busy (popular). I'm sure other members can give you references of additional Leica repair facilities. I use to have one and the adjustment can usually be done without removing the top cover, but if there is any haze, it should be removed for a better job.

You might try Youxin Ye in Boston. Very quick turnaround and reasonable prices. See the CLA sticky thread on Leica repair people in the Leica M section of RFf for his email address and for other suggestions.

Anybody have any experience with Advance Camera in San Francisco? He quoted me a good price and reasonable turn-around time.

I've seen them referenced here on RFF (positively). I've no experience with them, but if they service CLEs then that's good for me to know (I have two CLEs--great cameras, btw).

Good luck. If you used them, please give us a review! :)

Youxin Ye is fast and good. I sent him a Tower/Nicca to replace this shutter ribbon and now the camera is as silent as my Leica IIIf.

Congratulations on your "new" CLE; your M4 is right to be jealous. :) This is my favorite 35mm film RF, since getting it new in the '80's. Also, I've found the 40mm focal length is a natural. With a 28mm, the framelines are easily seen, so that's very useful too. Enjoy!
