I'd bring a Pelican case.
Amen! And ziplock bags. If you go for bag storage, shop for roll top river running bags. The best have an inner layer of rubber covered on both sides with canvas. If it will hold air with you sitting on it it's probably watertight.

I've used Sundog brand cases while canoeing.
These are a double-bags with chest harnesses designed for active/whitewater use.
I would pass on taking the Rollei, too.

It is not the wind it is the sand that will damage your cameras. If you do not take your camera into the water and you keep it covered (any camera bag in a tent) should do then your camera will be ok. The wind will blow sand into the mechanism. Beach sand is a substance that gets into everything. IMHO the Nikonos series are designed for water and beach.
