Girl with a TLR

I'm really a big fan of the the Flickr group "Girl with a TLR"
the aesthetic of a TLR just forces me to smile evreytime I look through this group.

My first attempt, although I guess a Leica M3 could be a better starter pic.

Regarding the TLRs, yes, the fact that the camera is not right up to the face, and the cradling posture, makes them more sensual than would be otherwise.

Still, that Flickr group is bordering on fetishism!

I had a look and clicked on 'slideshow' but didn't last long ... nice photos but it starts to become a little repeatative. You obviously have to be a 'real' TLR fan! 😀

A Japanese professional photographer recently told me that he was astonished to see me using a Rolleiflex TLR because in Japan the TLR cameras are attributed as "nearly exclusively used by female amateur photographer" ...

In french, TLR's finders are also called viseur de poitrine, litterally "chest finder", because of the point of view's level, but of course one could differently understand it… 😉

I think the most fascinating picture of a girl with TLR is Leo Mirkin's portrait of Sylvia Sorrente in 1962 at the Festival de Cannes, picture taken with his TLR 😎
