Do I want a Yashica Professional?

Sorry, I only have an Electro 35 GSN, not the "professional" model. However if it's anything like my GSN I absolutely love that camera. The meter has to be one of the best in camera meters ever made. I've always had my shots come out perfect even in lighting I thought was completely questionable.

Haha, I just realized my icon is actually me holding my GSN. :p

It's mostly interesting for collectors. I have one that's in beautiful shape. If you want it I would sell it. To me the GTN is a better bet as I shoot these in places I would rather not take my more expensive cameras. The Proffesional sort of falls in there.

All depends how much it's gonna set you back. Right now, the black GTs are being advertised at outrageous prices. The "Professional" moniker is simply an advertising gimmick. This particular one pictured is an older model but it looks to be in good condition. If you want it as a user, make certain it functions properly first, and good luck.

If you want to complete a collection, by all means get one. And the corresponding PRO-50 DX flash also.

I have a couple Professional cameras, these were the first black-painted Yashica Electros. They are scarce, but I was lucky enough to win one on Yahoo auctions for one penny (no reserve, and no one else bid on it).

The professionals are the same as the other Electro models, though it has a smaller ASA range than the later GT/GTN cameras.

f-man..ok..sounds like a resounding No :) I'm at the point where I think I have all the Yashica's I want... no sense in accumulating more.

Soon..the interchangeable lens cameras go..

Chinasaur, you want Lynxes, they are real things.

I second that! Lynx's are works of art, especially the 5000E, and can be usually be obtained at a very reasonable price.

I am looking at a Yahshica Rapid right now. It's a bizarre looking camera, but the most interesting Yashica I have seen. Anyone know anything about these?
