Just got from a friend a Leica M2 with a elmar 50mm 2.8 collapsible. First time in my life to use a Leica and i love it.
What should i exept form a combo as this as i am totally novice in the lenses and there qualities / performances. I like to shoot most portrait and i have discover that the elmar cant focus near that one meter.

if you are not too much in a hurry to add other lenses, you might want to do the following:
* spend some days/weeks/months with your 50/2.8 to learn its capabilities on your M2
* while you're concentrating on the 50mm focal length, use the search function here on RFF to read the threads about 'lens choice'
* when you have 1-2 lenses you are interested in, visit flickr.com or other photo site and search for photos made with these lenses to see if you like the 'look' and quality
good luck

With one camera and one focal length, you are in the perfect position to learn how to use it properly. Go and shoot people, landscapes, street stuff, everything. Use the 50mm as a wide angle and as a telephoto (if you see what I mean). Use it wide open and at f/16. Shoot at least six rolls of b/w film - it makes you concentrate on composition and lighting - and then post the best.

Thanks for the respons and the kind words for my work on my page. I have shoot until now 2 rolls off film that i need to develop. Most @ f8-f16 and mostly when i was in a roadtrip with friends.
But my feedback until now is follow. I, as you can see at my work , was working with polaroids and digital. I have try many filmcameras but newer got a love for it. The Leica, from the first moment was something else. As my friends say, they have newer see me with a camera in the hands, except when i am working on my projects and now i was all over the place with the lite lady.
Focus is easy, but most its a joy to use it. I don't know why but for sure its not only because its a rangefinder as i have try others before. Its something magical with it.
So lets see where i go with it, but for sure i like to use it to my kind of work.

Lambis,
Nice website...very interesting work. BTW...my M2 is my favorite camera. It's the one I use when I just want to go off and enjoy shooting.
Best regards,
Bob
