Does the Rangefinder forum guru's have any opinion on the worth of the chinese adapters being sold for $15?

They can be off, though some swear they are ok.

I purchased some from cam.plus (no relation to the buyer). I bought 3 adapters thinking if I got 1 good adapter, it'd still be cheaper than buying a single CV adapter and the "off" adapters could be used on my 15/4.5 and 21/4. A bit of a gamble, but in the end I got 3 good ones. Even measured them with a micrometer and they matched my CV one.

I bought a 35/135 one from a popular auction site for a grand total of $16 shipped. The fit and finish is not too bad and checking it with my calipers shows it to be 1mm thick +/- 0.1mm.
I originally got it to use with a Jupiter 12 on my M6 and all of my focusing tests say it is right on the money.

Oh, by the way, I'm not a guru.

I purchased the set of 3 from a site in Macau. Total price was about $25 including shipping. All 3 are just fine.
Btw, it took about 2 weeks for delivery.

Got one from Hong-Kong for about 15$ for my CV 35mm. It's a simple machined piece of metal what can go wrong? Well, in my case nothing, it is perfect. But YMMMV.
But maybe it's the Leicaist's mantra for some: 'If it isn't German and immorally overpriced, it CAN'T be any good'.

Yep, I bought the cheapest one on eBay and it seems dead on with my FSU lenses and R3A.

Measure one. If it brings up the right frames, is EXACTLY the right thickness of 1 mm, is made correctly so as not to damage the camera mount, locks in place, and has a hard chrome over brass finish, it is worth $15.
When your focus is offf or any of a number of other things go wrong, then you know you guessed wrong and should have got a CV one or a Leitz one.
Don`t forget that this is the same country that makes fake medicine, poisonous medicine and toothpaste, substandard grade 8 bolts that are really grade 1, lead painted toys, fake golf clubs and watches, illegal CD copies. If you want to support them, go ahead. Don`t complain later .
You probably believed OBama`s campaign promises too

I'm sure there are forums out there on the internets for tirades and political BS. You should go look for them.

I don't make a career of defending Chinese goods, nor the Chinese regime.
I only report that my adapters were right on.
No, I don't totally believe Obama's campaign promises. Did you believe McCain's? Did you actually believe Palin's? I'm very comfortable with the choice I made.

Ronald, I am aware of such reservations, hence my question...
(No, I wasn't aware of the Presidents promises - I live in New Zealand...
Okay, the general consesus from people who have purchased them is that they work, I will spend $15.00 and confirm it either way for myself....

I'd like to hear from which seller the good adapters were... any?
The thickness varies on them, which does not affect 50mm lenses much. I would not use them for wide-angle or tele-photo lenses, where the thickness has to be exact.
Also- the cheap adapers tend to not center as well as the Voigtlander and Leica adapters. The focus scale comes up off-center on some. It is hit and miss for quality control.

I have had the same experience as Brian Sweeny and only use the Leitz or CV. My first cheap one was bad. I gave it away with notice that I thought it was bad.

The ones I bought (from Germany, but presumably made in the Far East) give perfect focus but one of the 50/75 ones brings up part of the 90mm framelines on the M3. No matter, I use it for the 21mm lens. They seem to be machined stainless steel, not brass. The bayonet mount has the same feel as with the "real" M lenses, so I'd call them a win overall.
