Wow that looks like the junction of Nassau St. & Grafton St. in #3. Trinity College behind the wall on the right.

Thank you for sharing!

Fascinating pictures. What a time that must've been. People dressed so well back then, too. Now we walk around in flip-flops with our underwear hanging out of droopy pants.

+1 to that. I've said that many times, I wish people still cared about looking decent before leaving the house.

According to the caption given on the National Library of Ireland's website, that is exactly what you are seeing.

Full disclosure: I wouldn't have found the full collection except that one of the commenters on the blog linked in the OP sent me there with a broken link.

It seems to be all but forgotten these days. Even in the workplace. There was a story on the news just last night about people going to work wearing flip-flops (with the mention of the girls that posed with President Bush wearing them a few years back). Even on interviews, people seem to think it's okay to dress like a slacker.

Heck, just flip through The People of Walmart to get a whiff of the status quo.

Hahaha It's funny you posted that link.. I actually thought about mentioning that with my first reply.. smh

Thanks for posting this! There are other interesting photos at that link too, including the one of the open-top tram heading down towards Trinity College. An open-top tram in Dublin? That was taken at roughly the same spot but with the photographer standing on Grafton St.

Obviously the pictures are of high society. These people would be looking down their noses at the Walmarters of 19th C Ireland just like you snobs are doing it today.
