maybe use some caution here ... ?

This time he's included a fourth picture, that clearly shows the rear mount. I'd say that's a Leitz M-mount adapter on a screwmount lens.
Maybe the first deal fell through?

That's what I would presume. He does have a clean 100% seller record, not a lot of sales (31) but all of them on different photo gear.

Same lens?
Same lens?
Hi Raid, Looks as if the same lens is up for sale one more time, or maybe he had two and doesn't like to write discriptions.

It is always a warning sign when the same item shows up more than once. I would treat this auction with gloves.

Hi Raid,
I checked with the seller when the original auction was running as I wanted a pic of the rear of the lens as I wasn't sure what it was.
He replied with about four pics of the back and it has a Leica M mount attached.
He just replied to my email querying why the second time and he said he had hassles with the buyer.
Bet the seller wanted it fully insured but buyer wanted it declared at a lower value...seems to be the trend these days on anything.:bang: Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the clarification. This seems to be OK then.

Somebody here should jump all over this one. KevinCameras has the same thing for sale at $2100, that should be an indication! Plus a Leitz M adapter is included. I'd definately be interested, but I'm comfortable working without rangefinder coupling, I use the DOF scales with this lens anyway.

Similar question I have asked the seller on why it comes up again, but no response, I guess so many questions to him already. Hope this time a genuine deal at last and won't show up again as it's too attractive .....

The first sale of 860 USD was a good deal. Good thing that I already have 2 of these, or else I would be tempted to bid on this one. The finder is especially hard to lay hands on separately, unless you wanna get one from kevincameras for 450 USD.

Yep I think that's the same finder I have. Came with my FL lens

There appear to be only two types of finders, one has a bigger curve on the front element than the other. I agree with you that the one in the auction is probably the ype commonly seen with the FL lens.

According to the serial number this is the type 1 lens.

No surprises: it sold for $860 again. I am going for it when it shows up a third time.

Had I felt in my heart I had to have it (a feeling that I know will hit me in the future) my plan was to simply contact the seller directly, offer $900 for his trouble of having to re-list, and be done with it. I think that crack in the finder kept me away (that's the collector side of my personalitry creeping in yet again).
Buyer #2 got a good deal, for sure. Anybody we know?
that would be very funny indeed if the same les is being offered again for sale ...

qu'est-ce que c'est?
At the price it sold for you might as well just buy from Kevin Cameras and actually get one in LTM mount.
If the lens was offered by goKevin, I would need to sell a kidney to afford it.
Frankly, I wouldn't care to patronize that particular vendor.

I would second that, I did buy from him once - it was not a pleasant experience.

I will wait for my $500 set, hopefully in the near future. No way im paying more than 21SA.

There is also an FL mpount SLR version of this lens that is designed to be used with the mirror locked up and using an accessory finder. It looks as if its got the same optical arrangement as it has simialr deeply prtruding rear elements. This llens used to go for much less on eBay as Canon SLR mount was not really compatible with any digital cameras. Not sure now that micro 4/3 mounts are available. But I was tempted on a few occasions to buy one and use it on my M mount cameras (Canon Fl/FD mount adaters are available). It could be a cheaper way of getting a nice classic super wide lens.
