The prices are about the same.
They are both black paint with the potential of brassing as time passes.

So which would you choose?

2000 BP LHSA 0.85 TTL, one of 440 ~ build quality....feel.....looks, I'm satisfied ~ Like a Modern BP M4 :)

I am working on thinning the herd here and I had an M6 LHSA and an black paint MP. The M6 is gone and the MP remains. There's my answer.

/That said, it wasn't easy selling the M6.

Chrome or black makes no difference to me but I've used the M6TTL and MP bodies for some years and prefer the handling of the MP cameras. I find the action of the film rewind knob and film advance lever easier to use on the MP body. You should try both to compare as you'll be doing an awful lot of film advancing in particular with whatever you get.

the M6 TTL LHSA is prettier

the black paint MP is a better made camera.
with a better RF/VF
and it does not have the TTL's backward turning shutter speed dial

if you own an M7/M8/M9. that would be a positive thing.

imho, the M6 TTL Millennium is the bee's knees.

The M6 TTL is quite ugly, build too high. I love the lower profile of the MP.

I'd definitely go with a Black Paint MP. I used to think that the Chrome MP was as good as it gets, but I've changed my mind. Something about a brassed BP MP is pure sex.

I haven't handled an MP but I have a regular M6TTL (0.58) and a M6TTL LHSA (0.72) and I can say that the LHSA is a far smoother camera in terms of winding and movement of the shutter speed dial.

Not always. If you're lucky enough to find one that's been scratched up it's no longer a collector's item and you do pay a bit more than the regular price but not much more.

This plays into the "WTF is up with Leica prices these days?" threads, but I bought my LHSA two years ago (maybe three) from KEH for about $1700. It sat in KEH's inventory for months as I obsessively put it into and took it out of my cart. Now KEH lists them at $3500! Strange days.

I bought my 0.72 LHSA new, when there was a Leica Day promotion and a rebate. After the discounts, the body was about $1750 NEW!

The back of my MP3 when I bought it over three years ago. The first owner did a number on it with his belt buckle, but it's nowhere near as bad looking now. Even the scratch on the door edge has smoothed out. In this particular case I look at the wear and think "great price!". :D
