so, thought i would post a reminder for this event for those who are interested. should be quite a show!

Saturday, August 20th @ 10:00 am under The B.Q.E. (Brooklyn Queens Expressway) on the corner of Union and Meeker Ave., Brooklyn, NYC

I always fathom going to this, but I always have work obligations. Rad cars and a cool crowd, though.

i believe it's right near the Lorimer stop on the L and Metropolitan on the G.
It's usually set up under the BQE right there

You forgot the usual hot racey women, generally scantilly clad with long legs.

I'll be there. If you want we all can meet-up at the Kelloge Dinner just before. I wouldn't mind having breakfast.

John, this is the same dinner where we once had lunch with Darren.

Cal, sounds like a plan. show starts at 10am, but i was gonna go early to try to get the cars pulling in. what time should we meet for breakfast? of course we can also make it a brunch if people don't want to get up that early, haha

I'll be having breakfast with John at 9:00. Others are welcomed to join us.

Dunstan thanks for bringing this cool event to our attention.

So, what lens is best for a show like this? I'm thinking 35mm, but also a 50 could do ok... I guess I won't be lazy for once and I'll bring both. Is this a two camera type of event? ;)

John,

I wasn't kidding about the hot women. Generally the culture is guys showing off their trophy's. Having a 50 for portraits is a good idea.

I'm thinking a wide and a normal is a good choice. I'll be bringing the 50/3.5 Nickel Heliar because its so sharp and detailed, but I'll also bring my 50 Rigid because it loves diffussed light and has a special rich contrast if it rains.

I'll also bring my 35 Cron and 35/1.8 Nikkor. Your welcome to try any of them.

ha, well definitely at least a 2 lens event!
a 50 should do fine for portraits, but i tend to prefer as wide and as close as i can get for the car shots.

Well, I'm not opposed to using a 35mm for portraits... since I like some background in the mix. I'm just thinking it might be dumb to not bring a 50mm too.

I'm not going for the girls or the cars... I'm going in hopes of getting a few good photos. I see pretty girls every day in NYC... :) They diss me then and they will diss me this Saturday too. ;)

Is this still on if it rains?

I doubt it will rain all day. Basically I'm thinking that if it rains it follows the prevailing overall tendicy/pattern of late-late afternoon showers. Generally when rain is forecast for several days in a row like this the weathermen hedge their bets with a chance of rain. It might not rain at all, but I'm a risk taker who is known to be rather foolish.

This is an annual event, and I doubt it will be cancelled. The BQE provides shelter in case it rains.
