hey Cal, sorry to have lost you in the crowd at the end. hope you didn't stick around too much longer.
anyways, those skaters sure were shredding it up, and Cal was shooting like a madman, going through at least 2 rolls of just these kids jumping the Eldorado...
also, by that time, there were far more shenanigans going on at the car show, with cops on hand and guys burning rubber.
so a great day of shooting all around, as evidenced by Tung's great shots!
Thanks, Dunstan. A great day of shooting indeed. So... where are we going next?!

For me, I'm not the type to make photos and post them on the web a day later. I'm trying to edit and come up with some bodies of work. I'm slow even if I'm digital.

So, just drop the $4000 on it... come on... you know you want to.
I was at Adorama yesterday, and I had a black 28 Cron mounted on my M6 rig.
First off about 1/6th of the VF'er is blocked by the gigantic hood, and I need to use an external 28 VF'er even though I have 28mm framelines. This is no issue for me because I like/love having an external VF'er for that bright all at once in your face wide angle look. I wanna do street photography where you can tell the people you are shooting that they shoulda flossed their teeth before leaving the house. LOL. Thanks to Fidel I learned how nice and bright (brightest) the Leica VF'ers are.
I almost pulled out the plastic card with the magic numbers, knowing that I could always return the Cron, and since Adorama has such a great return policy (no questions asked), I reasoned with myself that it would be like a free rental if I returned it, but I also knew there was a danger that I wouldn't be able to unglue the 28 Cron from my M6, and I would of paid more than I would like and would end up with a black version when I wanted a chrome version. Oh-well.
Call me a wimp, but I'm holding out for a loud chrome version. BTW this lens looks mighty down right pure EVIL on my pimped out Wetzlar M6 and is definitely the Devil's tool.
Later this week I'm buying a chrome Leica 28mm VF'er. I'm getting ready for the up and coming market freefall to buy one soon at my price.

Dunstan,
Thanks for arranging this event. I had a great time. I also know that in the heat of the moment I forgot to adjust my exposure after I took off the 1/2 stop yellow filter. Oh-well. Either going to be really good or really bad.

Yep, big THANKS to Dunstan for arranging this event. Here are some quick & dirty digital shots I uploaded to my own site, since my free Flickr account is full, as always.

Fidel,
Getting a M3 is great thing. Just be aware that the minimum focus on a M3 is limited to 1 meter unless the body is modified. I learned this from Cristian at the last meet-up. All my 50's only focus to 1 meter, but using my 75 Lux on the M3 doesn't allow for me to close focus down to 0.7 meter.
Anyway my pimped out M6 with a 1.40x magnifier best serves the 75 Lux, but a 50 on a M3 is almost like autofocus, especially Leica Crons.
The overhaul that was performed on my M3 is smoothing out nicely. Definately got a lot quieter and smoother. I believe my DS got new gears when it was serviced. Also initially the shutter was about as loud as a SLR, but now is rather buttery. What a solid camera. I'm a lucky guy.

Cal, I'm wondering why you want the 28mm summicron when you are going to be using it at f/5.6 or f/8 most of the time... perhaps the elmarit is better suited for you?

You are right, I already have the 28/3.5 Canon/Serenar where I basically use only those two F-stops, and even though its a retro lens, stopped down its mighty sharp.
To me the 28 Elmarit is a compromise. Yes it is higher contrast, sharper wide open than the old Canon, and of course faster.
Now take all those good things a step further with a Cron: even more contrast than the Elmarit, sharper wide open even at F-2.0 and even faster. One thing the Cron can give me is a 28 FOV night rig/camera for subway shooting. Lately I've been shooting 35's at F2.0 at 1/30th using 650 ISO. Of course generally I wait for the train to stop. An Elmarit just isn't fast enough.

Only the best for you Cal huh>? You don't have to justify it to me. I understand.

Fair answer from you and from Cal. I'll be waiting.
