Good idea for storing the 5L XTOL? In black color? I saw a few in red, but possibly it's best in black.

I divide my 5L of Xtol into four 1 quart Kalt containers, filled to the brim, and 1 accordian type collapsible container. I work from the collapsible container until it's empty, then transfer from a standard container once opened.

dunkin donuts 'big box o' joe' or sometihing similar.
its a 5 liter mylar bladder inside a box with a big screw cap.
I mix up the solution to about 4.5L in that and it keeps any air out.

No reason not to. I mix up Xtol and store it in a 5L bottle that Kodak sells (or used to, maybe they still do) for storing E-6 chemistry in. I'm usually through it in a few months, and haven't had problems with the developer going stale.
