....strap or leash connections on your favorite RF.....

In my case a Voigtlaander Vito CLR, I like to keep it loose without the leather case when im out driving around.

Still, I'd like a nice shoulder strap.

I use a little Domke F-5XB generally whether the camera I'm using has strup lags or not ... I would rather have the Domke over my shoulder with the flap undone for easy access than have the camera actually hanging around my neck on a strap.

Recommending a wrist strap when the TO says, there is no connector for a wrist strap...?

Does it have a tripod thread? If so, I recommend a Sun Sniper Strap. I think, they are very popular for DSLRs, but there is a small model, which is build for smaller cameras. I use that one for the R-D1 and the CLE and it's perfect for street shooting, because no other strap I know of is that fast.

Tripod socket.

Re-read his post. He DOESN'T say there is no connector for a wrist strap, just "strap or leash connections". A tripod socket is far and away the best way to fit a wrist strap, which is why I tend to forget that some people thread bits of string through the strap lugs.

I've had Vitos and I've never seen one without a tripod socket.

Cheers,

Same here,
I like using bags more than shoulder/neck straps.

Although a good tripod-mount wrist strap is very handy when the camera is out of the bag. It's also very quick to switch between cameras.

Well, I'm not a native speaker. My understanding was, that "no connector" means no place, where you could place a wrist strap at all. But OTOH if there are wrist straps, that you can screw into the tripod thread, then we had the same recommendation, except that mine was a shoulder strap, and yours a wrist strap.

Actually I recommended both: BlackRapids are shoulder straps.

The Black Rapid SnapR 35 may work.. its a bag, shoulder (cross body) strap anda wrist strap all in one. Check the dimensions, see if it will work.. otherwise, get it just for the two straps.

Thanks All, I'm researching the Tripod mount straps now and will probably get a few of them for some other camera's as well.

I really enjoy the Gordy strap with the tripod mount connector...

Just how safe are tripod-mount straps, especially the shoulder ones? That probably sounds stupid - a lot of people obviously use them - but I'd be petrified of the strap coming unscrewed. Do people loctite them in or something?

It's a very tight screw really, I never worried. Just feel it now and then if still fixed. It doesn't come loose without considerable force.

Never had a problem with wrist straps in 40+ years, and my wife has never had a problem with her BlackRapid shoulder strap since it came out, though Blackrapid recommend a dab of spit in the end of the screw (honestly!).

Cheers,

R.

A dab of spit? What's the logic/science there?
